Sleep Paralysis Stories: Demons Or Hallucinations?

Sleep paralysis stories typically involve unusual and frightening experiences. Perhaps you have one or two of these disturbing tales of your own to tell.

If not, I’ll first share one of mine to give you an understanding of what it can be like.

Then we’ll take a closer look at whether sleep paralysis demons or ghosts really exist. Or if science can provide a logical and comforting explanation.

My sleep paralysis experience

Imagine the following scenario: it’s been a long day, you go to bed later than usual and fall asleep quickly through sheer exhaustion.

But instead of waking up peacefully in the morning, you half wake in the middle of the night. And in the darkness of your bedroom, it slowly dawns on you that you can’t move your body…and that someone, or something, is watching you.

A weight pushing on your chest

You feel a weight on your chest, pressing you down and preventing you from sitting up. And not only is your whole body paralyzed, but you can’t so much as move your lips to call out for help.

You’re not sure who or what is pushing on your chest. Even though you seem to be able to move your eyes just a little, it’s too dark to see anyway. Regardless, you just feel that there’s a presence there. Something strange. Something frightening.

This happened to me last year and was a very unsettling experience. Fortunately, there was no demon, ghost or burglar in my bedroom.

After a minute’s panic, the feeling passed. And I was then able to stumble to the bathroom to make sure my face wasn’t decorated with demonic symbols. It was a classic case of sleep paralysis.

What is sleep paralysis?

Recurrent isolated sleep paralysis is classified as a parasomnia, which is a group of sleep disorders involving unwanted behaviors that accompany sleep.

The main symptom is being awake and unable to move your body. It might also be accompanied by hallucinations or dreams/nightmares whilst still awake.

It typically lasts from a few seconds to a few minutes before movement is regained. And although it may feel like it at the time, it’s not believed by medical organizations to be harmful.

What causes it?

The exact reason for why it happens to some people and only on some nights isn’t known. However, scientists do have a theory about what goes on during sleep paralysis.

During the night, you cycle through different sleep stages. When you enter the REM stage of sleep, your brain stops your muscles from moving – known as REM atonia. One explanation for this atonia is that it prevents injury from acting out your dreams in bed.

During sleep paralysis, the atonia starts, or continues, while you’re awake. And during this time, you might also experience what’s known as sleep hallucinations, or dreams while you’re awake.

So your body and brain are temporarily out of sync while transitioning between sleep stages, potentially creating a frightening experience.

As Dr. Michael J. Breus neatly explains:

Sleep scientists believe that sleep paralysis may occur when the transitions in and out of REM sleep and other sleep stages don’t go smoothly.

How many people experience sleep paralysis?

Sleep paralysis stories like mine are surprisingly common. In 2011, researchers aggregated 35 sleep paralysis studies to find out how many people had experienced it at least once in the past year, finding:

  • 7.6% of the general population
  • 28.3% of students
  • 31.9% of psychiatric patients

And according to the handbook of sleep disorders, it will happen at least once in a lifetime of 40% to 50% of normal subjects, but is “far less common as a chronic complaint”.

Who is more at risk of having sleep paralysis?

Scientists might not know the precise reason only some people have sleep paralysis yet, but there are a growing number of risk factors becoming apparent.

For example, researchers who analyzed 42 studies found several risk factors and associated conditions:

  • Sleep problems, changing sleep patterns and shift work.
  • Sleep disorders such as narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia and nocturnal leg cramps.
  • Stress.
  • Some psychiatric groups, particularly those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety and panic disorders.
  • Substance and medication use.
  • Physical illness.
  • Personality and anomalous beliefs.

Is there a genetic component to sleep paralysis?

In 2015, British researchers published a study of 862 twins and siblings aged between 22 and 32. They did find some evidence of a genetic role, but only a small one:

In this sample of young adults, sleep paralysis was moderately heritable

Interestingly, they also found other independent risk factors, including:

  • Disrupted sleep cycles
  • General sleep quality
  • Anxiety symptoms
  • Exposure to threatening events

Polls – readers’ experience of sleep paralysis

I polled readers of this article for a year to find out what kind of sleep paralysis episodes they had.

Note that it’s likely that many people who search online about it will have had the more frightening episodes, skewing the results.

But they still provide a fascinating insight into what people experience and how they cope.

Poll 1

In poll 1, the most common episode was thinking there was a demon or other being in the room.

Poll 2

Poll 2 shows that many readers find sleep paralysis terrifying. Again, those who search online for it are likely to have found it particularly disturbing.

The not so scientific explanations for sleep paralysis

image of a woman floating above the bed

Since first writing this article several years ago, there has been an extraordinary number of comments. And the comments show that not everyone accepts the scientific explanation.

Interestingly, some people struggle to accept it even though they consider themselves to be scientifically minded generally. I think these cases highlight just how realistic the experience of sleep paralysis can be; how it can linger in your memory and makes you question what happened for a long time afterward.

The possibility of demons, ghosts, spiritual beings, and aliens all crop up from time to time in the comments too. And while many people accept their experiences as hallucinations or dreams, some people choose to believe another explanation – that those entities are real.

Despite these beliefs, there’s one clear theme: nothing bad ever actually happens, other than being frightened and perhaps losing some sleep after an episode.

Around the world

Cultural beliefs also appear to play a role in how sleep paralysis is perceived by some people.

In Fiji, for example, the demon is sometimes seen as a deceased relative coming back to discuss an important or unfinished matter.

In Chinese folklore, it’s also seen as a ghost rather than a demon or intruder.

Some people in Iran and Pakistan interpret it as demons or spirits taking over your body. This could be due to black magic performed by an enemy.

The common theme is that the entity is usually something to be feared. I’m yet to find a culture which believes it’s a friendly creature!

Sleep paralysis treatment

When to see a doctor

Fortunately, most people don’t experience sleep paralysis very often, and no treatment is usually required.

However, if the following apply to you, it’s a good idea to speak to your doctor:

  • It happens regularly.
  • You’re anxious about sleep paralysis and going to sleep.
  • You don’t get enough sleep.
  • You feel very sleepy during the day, sometimes fall asleep suddenly or lose control of your muscles.

What medical treatment is available?

If you see a doctor, they might take the following action:

  • Refer you to a sleep specialist to assess if you have another sleep disorder, like narcolepsy.
  • Treat any underlying psychiatric condition.
  • Discuss any medication or substance use that might be a factor.
  • Explain the biological processes involved in sleep paralysis to reassure you.
  • Talk to you about developing good sleep habits. This is thought to help reduce the frequency of sleep paralysis.

Readers’ techniques for coping with sleep paralysis

Over the years, many readers have described how they cope with sleep paralysis, and I’ve created a list of the most frequent ideas below.

The first seven in the list are also suggested by sleep experts. The rest are a mix of personal opinions. Please bear in mind that none are guaranteed to work:

  • Don’t let yourself become too sleep-deprived.
  • Stick to a regular sleep schedule.
  • Try to reduce stress and anxiety in your life.
  • Try to vigorously flutter your eyelids or move your eyes, as this tends to be an area of the body that’s less affected by the paralysis.
  • Focus on wiggling just one finger or a toe.
  • Don’t take recreational drugs or drink alcohol in the evening.
  • Don’t sleep on your back.
  • Stay calm.
  • Tell yourself that you’re in control. You can order the experience to stop.
  • If you feel a weight on your chest, imagine there’s something friendly causing it.
  • Film yourself sleeping so you can see there was nothing in the room.
  • Don’t think about what it could be. Your imagination will probably make up something scary in the darkness.
  • Organize your bedroom in a way that makes you feel safe and secure.
  • Don’t hang dressing gowns, coats, or hats in places that make them look like figures in the dark.
  • Sleep with a night light, music, or radio on.
  • Remind yourself that nothing bad will happen.
  • Imagine your body rolling from side to side in your mind and count each roll. Focus on this and try to grow the capacity for movement from there.
  • Count numbers to focus your mind on something else.
  • Don’t sleep with a high pillow.
  • Keep your eyes shut and try to clear your mind.
  • Squeeze your eyes tightly shut if you can control the muscles.
  • Keep well hydrated – drink water before going to bed.
  • Talk about it to family or friends – they may have experienced it too.
  • If you have it once, get out of bed for a while to reset the brain.
  • Many people say prayer helps. Some also say that calling on their religious beliefs and commanding what they see to leave helps them.
  • Check if any sleeping pills or herbal remedies you’re taking are causing it.
  • Use sleep paralysis to lucid dream by relaxing and going with the experience instead of fighting it.
  • Once the episode has passed, tell yourself that you overcame it, are not afraid and will always overcome it.

How I recently stopped an episode of sleep paralysis

I successfully used two of the above techniques to stop a recent episode of sleep paralysis.

I woke to find myself in a strange position with my arms crossed on top of my body. And I could literally feel strong hands pinning my wrists to my chest.

I have to admit I was immediately petrified. The whole event was blurry, and I think I was having some dream overlap, but can’t remember exactly what now.

Stay calm and wiggle a finger

Two things sprung to mind after a moment of panic: stay calm and try to wiggle a finger.

The calmness I only managed with moderate success. But I did manage to focus my efforts on moving a finger. It felt quite odd – like my fingers were wiggling in different directions!

Eventually, I felt my arms loosen as well, and soon afterward I was able to shake the whole sensation away as I regained full control.

I then spent a few minutes doing some breathing exercises to ground myself and calm down, and then fell asleep again.

I think just knowing about the finger wiggling technique was enough for me to remember it when the sleep paralysis occurred.

  1. I also have the sumptoms of something holding me down ..can”t breath..always on my back..choking feeling..trying to scream for help and no one hears me..I’ve also have sat myself up while still in the dream but I was thrown back three times..and this was witnessed by my partner.. I think I scared the crappers out of him…

  2. I have had these dreams lonf before when i was with a man i was seeing i always felt like something was holding me down and it was always when i was on my back , I went to a friend and her mother said , girl thats the witch that rides you! I finally gotten away from this guy and havnt had one until now . Its years later and always happens when my sons father is around and on my back this time i saw him and a man with an evil sunk in face saying he is mine , this is the first time I’ve seen one and this is the first time its happened and he isn’t here . he is in jail. But I just got off the phone with him earlier and his voice was agitated and towards the end he told me he hopes I sleep well. Other times before he has actually seen me bouncing around my bed . I was trying to wake myself up this one was choking me while all other times I feel held down. Why is it always around certain people and on my back. And when I am with my sons father I am getting the life sucked out of me it visually shows and he starts looking better while I end up looking like Hell!!!!

  3. I just came across this site after waking up from a nap and experiencing sleep paralysis. This time my experience was pretty tame. I was having a bad dream prior to waking up so I already had a bad feeling about me. When I woke, I was unable to move and I could see a shadow of a figure standing in my doorway. It was just standing there kind of watching me. I closed my eyes to try and just forget about it but when I closed my eyes I was right back in my bad dream. I opened my eyes again and the figure was still there. I felt like I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Go back to the awful dream or be terrified in my own room. I tried moving and screaming but nothing happened until I finally got a squeak out (or at least I think I made a noise). That was enough for me to snap out of the paralysis and wake up enough so that when I fell back asleep there was no longer a bad dream and there wasn’t a figure in my doorway when I was awake.
This was the first experience I had in a while. I used to be much more afraid of the whole experience (don’t get me wrong its still terrifying) but now, knowing that in a couple minutes I’m likely to snap out of it, I try to blow it off as best I can and go back to sleep.
When I was a freshman in college, though, they were pretty bad. I had experiences quite often and they almost built upon each other. At first it started as a shadowy figure watching me across the room. Then the next time I experienced the paralysis he would get closer. Sometimes my roommate would be in the room doing homework or watching TV but I could never get her attention. I used to think if I can just get her attention she could snap me out of it. I would always try to scream but nothing would come out. Sometimes I was sure I made a noise, maybe a squeak or a grumble or any sound really, but whenever I asked she didn’t hear anything and thought I was sound asleep. Eventually this shadow man lunged at me and grabbed me by the throat. (That was my scariest experience I think) I couldn’t breath and thought for sure I was going to pass out from lack of oxygen. It was horrible and I tried to move, to escape his grasp but I couldn’t do anything. Eventually I snapped out of it and that was the end of those experiences until the next year. Then the cycle seemed to start again. This shadow man never felt demonic or anything but just like a being that was present and that was trying to figure out when to make his move, whatever that was going to be. (Apparently to choke me out) Even after I snap out of the paralysis though, it still feels like (at least for a little while) he’s there watching me but now I just can’t see him.

  4. Ive been reading this condition usually starts as a young adult. I remember this happening to me as a very young child. As years went on it happened less. I thought I learned to “wake myself up” I had a technique I would use. I would click my teeth, which I thought worked best. Or I would try really hard to move any part of my body. Now I read that doesn’t really work it was just ending on its own. I would immediately panic and vowed to fight it anytime it happened and I did. There was feeling of being sucked away, like down a black hole or something. I would immediately pray and “fight” as hard as I could yes, at time it did feel demonic but I’m more sensible than that. I never knew anyone who this has ever happened to besides me. I’m glad it’s a real thing and I’m not weird!

    • Exactly just like me I think that somehow some ppl with this have developed a way of kinda controlling there dreams I think it’s ppl who are very deeply minded or sumn.

  5. I frequently get these episodes and when I do, I pray really hard during and after the episode. It helps a lot. Its so scary shame.

    • I pray too, it does help. But at first the feeling intensifies as if something’s doesn’t like the fact that I’m praying Then I wake up for real.. it’s scary but I’m glad I found a medical term for it. It hasn’t happened in years. But it use to all the time.

  6. I often have this so called sleep paralysis, though i never believe in that scientific B.S name they gave it. what i experience is more demonic, physical and a bit frightening at first until i got almost used to it. it then becomes more of a disturbance. my experience is more violent kind of, I could feel the presence and then the pressing down on my back or my hip cause i never sleep on my back.
There was an Incident when i was feeling very tired and needed sleep and this thing came and i tried to fight it off but couldn’t, i managed to open my eyes facing the wall, and from the little light from my music set i could see the shadow of some kind of tiger or lioness form with a tail. i struggled so hard now and discover i could move my right elbow so i started hitting it with my elbow till it loosens it’s grip a bit then i kind struggled out, throwing punches and managed to put the light on. then i now slept again. it was when i woke up in the morning that i was trying to figure out what i went through. i couldn’t believe it happened cause that was the most physical encounter i had with this, but might evidences now was the light that i put on, and the pains from then bruises i sustained from the press down of this thing on my hip and lower back.
I instinct is telling my me it could be some kind of demon, or witchcrafts, that steels good fortunes from people. because this always happen when i had good plains of making huge progress in life. I also think the scientists know what that is but where just covering it up. cause i believe most of the occults and witches/ wizards uses this to acquire strength that makes then more powerful in the physical.
A huge thanks to anyone that took the time to read through my comments. please try and leave some reply cause i need your help and opinion/ suggestions. as the fight is still on until i discover a way to capture this these cowards.

  7. I just came across this page because I searched for meaning as I’ve just experienced sleep paralysis an hour ago. I usually quote the 23 psalm or the Lord’s Prayer to get the demon to go away. I’m thankful for the explanation in this article and I will try some of the techniques mentioned. These episodes are truly scary and I need relief if it happens again.

    • Role your eyes to the back of your head when ever possible you have to wake your nerve up your eyes are the strongest nerve.

  8. Since a very very young age I’ve suffered frequently from nightmares (almost every night) and usually I’m able to wake up and snap out of them pretty quickly. However last night I had one of the worst nghtmares I’d yet to experience, which resulted in not being able to move or speak when I woke. Yet the weirdest/most terrifying thing about this experience was that in my dream, it was a witch/demon that was holding me down and clawing into my sides and kneck and telling me i wasn’t allowed me to wake up and when I did eventually wake up I could feel pressure exactly where she had been holding me and was 100% certain someone was to the right of me/in my room. It was terrifying. Luckily my partner was to the side of me and when I was abe to speak again (after what seemed like ages) I was able to call out and wake him to comfort me. But it really shook me up and I was in fits of tears and couldn’t sleep for the next few hours. Plus the feeling that someone was there lasted ages (even with the lights on.) I’m still petrified from the experience.

  9. I have been doing some research on Astral Projection and one of the things that will let me have the OBE is mastering sleep paralysis (SP). I first learned of SP around 3 years ago, I’m 18 turning 19 in 2 days. At the time I had no idea as to what had happened to me and it was terrifying. It started out as me heading to bed with the intent of waking up the next morning to get ready for another day of school. It did not go like that though, I awoke in the middle of the night with this ‘noise’ in my head that was uncontrollable. I could not move and breathing was hard. I looked up and right above me was this ‘demon’ that was staring down at me. I blamed by asphyxiation and in-ability to move on the ‘demon’. I could not scream and nothing seemed to work. After about what seemed like ages but was actually about 1-2 minutes I was released from the paralysis. That incident would later be the stepping stone to farther research into these strange happenings. I do believe in the paranormal and the supernatural but I am more than confident enough to say that (SP) is just a trick of the mind. I have had more than enough experience and would say that I am the 1%. I believe that I know how the hallucinations are caused and why some people are experiencing common sleep paralysis. I also am 90% confident that I can tell any person looking to encounter this phenomenon how to do so. Let me start with why it happens. A person who experiences (SP) two or less times in their life randomly is easily awoken by a perfect string of events during REM or rapid eye movement. The dream you are having makes you more susceptible to a certain noise or condition that is happening to your body while you sleep. A noise during a dream that has a quiet moment in it can lead to a person responding to the disturbance by waking up during REM which will lead to the body still under the affects of the deep relaxation and the chemicals the brain releases to help relax the muscles even more. People who have the condition commonly have a chemical imbalance in their body that makes them more susceptible to these disturbances which leads to them waking up during REM more often. Leaving them to encounter (SP). Now lets talk about what is happening during (SP), how you can invoke it yourself and how you can make it easier to deal with should you experience it. When the person wakes up during REM they are in a state when the mind is most active. The brain is creating dreams or visions while synced to beta waves and also secreting two chemicals that relax the body to a state of deep relaxation. When someone is awoken during this process they are left under the effects of the chemicals and beta waves. Dreams can occur as easily as opening your eyes during this stage and they may even occur while your eyes are open turning them into hallucinations. They do not only occur with your eyes however as many people report auditory hallucinations as well. The feeling on a persons chest that is commonly reported through many cultures and different areas of the world is due to the relaxing chemicals that your brain just had your body under so that you don’t act out your dreams. It is like being under a mild anesthesia and trying to move rapidly, it’s going to be a little difficult right away. You can however breath normally quickly if you take slow calming breaths and start to work your way up from there. The following is for the curious people who would like to encounter the effects of sleep paralysis. I highly recommend wearing a blind fold to bed for the first time so you do not get too overwhelmed with the hallucinations. Remember everything that you experience is not real, it is the result of your mind panicking from the deep relaxation that your brain had your body under. To induce sleep paralysis you are going to need a blindfold, an alarm clock two and a half free hours of time and a comfortable place to rest. Start by setting the alarm clock for 100 minutes later. Put on the blind fold and get into position for some resting. Having a pet, ie. cat or dog in the room with you will provide comfort later on. What will begin to happen is you will start to sleep and 90 minutes or so later you will enter rapid eye movement (REM) or dream sleep. When the alarm goes off it will awake you during REM. One of two things will happen you will awake under sleep paralysis or you will be able to drift off back to sleep and 5 or 6 minutes later you will snap out of your current dream and awake into sleep paralysis. The animal that I mentioned earlier was to trick your mind. You will 100% of the time feel the pressure on your chest but don’t worry that can be countered if the pet that you have with you sleeps in your bed as your mind will automatically think that the slight phantom pressure on your chest is the pet sleeping on you. The presence of the pet in the room with also provide a level of comfort that will allow you to handle the sleep paralysis more easily. After you have done this once or twice a week for 3 or 4 weeks you should be able to handle it without a blindfold. Remember the things that you see and hear are not real so do not worry. There has never been a reported case of someone passing away from sleep paralysis so you are safe. I cannot tell you what you might see or hear because everything that happens depends on your state of mind. If you go into this terrified then you will experience your worst nightmares and vice-versa. I will state that I am not responsible for any psychological distress that may occur during these practices. I wish good will upon anyone experiencing sleep paralysis as it is one of the most terrifying things that can happen to a living person.

  10. I woke up and felt a weight on my chest and thought I was being choked. I panicked bc I was dreaming in my room and saw a monster from the nightmare I was having. After awhile I could move and got up. I turned on my life and ran to my living room shaking from fear.

  11. Hello! So today I experienced a kind of SP (from my judgement, as I did experience SP a couple of times now). I am a strong lucid dreamer and I usually sleep several hours straight on free days. (During work days I experience waking up several times during the night due to pressure) Anyways, it was the first time happening in my new bedroom and I could instantly feel that thick presence of another, not really sitting on top of me, more like kneeling over my body or sitting next to me. There was only a little bit of pale street light coming through the window, everything else felt like a large blurry shadow lurking over my bed. I could see that it was lifting up one corner of my blanket. I felt warm beneath my blanket and my sheep fur which I use during winter to stay warm. When I wanted to reach for it, I managed to somehow lift my right arm towards it, though my wrist was quickly captured by a firm grip. The rest of my body wouldn’t move and my arm wouldn’t go down even if I tried to pull it away with that pressure on my wrist. Then I suddenly heard a dark, smokey voice speaking to me. I can’t tell exactly into what age category I’d put it.
I wasn’t afraid at all, though I felt slightly aroused or thrilled perhaps from the experience. I felt as if my upper body was splitting in two, or as if my soul was sitting up, while my body remained on the bed. I can not remember what the presence said, nor do I remember what I replied to it, but it soon let go of my hand and went back to laying down as it vanished a short while after.

I don’t know if this experience was closer to a dream or SP, but I wanted to share it anyways. Perhaps the way I experience SP has changed due to my lucid dreaming, but well I don’t know. (also sorry if my English isn’t good, I am not a native speaker)

  12. My issue has always been pretty minor except for a string of nights I had when I was about 23-24 (I’m 28 now). But my issues were to the point of rolling back over thinking “that was annoying” and going back to sleep, maybe a nightmare here and there that was hard to pull out of. Unfortunately when I had the more intense occurrences I was using meth… I WANT TO SAY THO, I WASN’T DELIRIOUS OR OUT OF MY MIND WITH PARANOID THOUGHTS OR HALLUCINATIONS!!!…. That being said I would get them after i had been up for about 3 or 4 days and was what they call “coming down”. Also, I am a personal believer in demons and feel that my sleep deprivation weakened my mind and possibly soul to be susceptible to these attacks. SO my first time I actually wasn’t on meth by I had been partying and drinking a lot out at Lake Lohantan in silver springs, NV (rumored to have a satanic cult living on the far side) I was sleeping by the fire pit and woke up to the sound of a dog or coyote sniffing me, I stayed still not wanting to startle it until it started sniffing around my head. I tried to move and found I couldn’t, then it sniffed right in my ear and the sound became deafening! Loud to the point of feeling like my ear drums were gonna burst, I was trying as hard as I could to pull out of it and probably looked like I was having a seizure till I was finally able to pull myself out of it to of course find nothing was there. Everybody else was sleeping still and there weren’t any animal tracks in the sand. That’s when I started having chaotic dreams of scuffles with dark figures, a couple times I got woken up by friends who looked concerned and said I looked like a dog having dreams or even seizures before. Then one night I was staying at my grandpa’s with my mom, they had left town for a few weeks, I was in my addiction and had been up for about 4 days. I went to sleep in my mom’s room since my brother was in mine with a friend listening to music. I was also for a short time when my mind woke up, I felt my body was still, eyes closed, but I could see the room around me, I had a dreadful feeling that something evil was coming to hurt me, that’s when I notice the door was open, this was a 1 story house, but instead of a hallway there was a dark stairway. That’s when I heard footsteps coming closer and louder to the point of it overwhelming and hurting again. Then a figure appeared, it looked like a normal size man maybe 6 ft. tall but was dark and looked like TV static but dim. I was terrified but couldn’t move, it stopped at the top of the stairs and looked up at me then as fast as the blink of an eye it ran up to me, face to face, grabbed my arm and started shaking me, I was trying with all my strength to move but couldn’t for about 10 sec. till I finally sat up to find nothing was there, my brother and friend were sleeping, music off, just silence… This is where my belief in demons comes in, I was rolled into a ball on my side eyes closed the whole time, so I believe it was my spirit that was looking around and was attacked, I was on my right side but was somehow looking left and the figure knew where I could see! So I had a few smaller instances but a few months later my next intense vision hit. By this time I could feel it coming on but sometimes still got sucked in. I was in my room light still on, curtains part way open when I felt the presence again and was able to look around even to I could feel my head laying still, eyes closed. Suddenly I could see a friend from the chest up, looking in at me with a creepy smile and a sparkle in his eyes sideways at the top of the window! Then he disappeared and the figure was back attacking me again. It lasted about 30 sec. This time but when I pulled out and sat up I felt it looking me back in! I yelled to my mom as I went down and was attached for another 20-30 sec. I sat up still being pulled down and was yelling help as loud as I could till finally I had the strength to stand up and run to my moms room, she didn’t hear a thing! I couldn’t sleep the rest of the night.. That’s when no matter what was going on I started making sure I slept at least every other night, (remember I was in my addiction at this time) and it stopped happening. I’ve been sober over a year now but I still get a small attack every now and again… Oh almost forgot, when I pulled out the big attacks my brain felt like in had torn in half for a while, looked into it and found a condition called “exploding brain disorder” it’s scary and painful to have, but it helped me get off drugs so at least there’s a silver lining to the cloud and now it’s pretty much in check.

  13. One night i was sleeping on my side on the outside edge of my bed i went to sleep i dont remeber what time this all happened my hands were down by my side and i couldnt move them but my neck would move and i said kenneth wake up wake kenneth he didnt okay be that way then i said jesus jesus jesus and it stopped automatically . thats say this carla didnt and wouldnt go back to sleep i was up pm to am to pm again 15 hours awake time i was scared to go back to sleep . it happened to me again see i cant remeber the dates or the times i try to forget that stuff i sure as heck dont want it to happen again.

  14. I’ve been having SP for awhile now but never had anything as scary as last night. I was dreaming I was at a counter in an unfamiliar home. I went to spin around on the stool I was sitting on and stopped as a dark figure was there, right next to me as I turned. Suddenly I was awake and on my back unable to move and the dark figure turned into a giant dark figure in a dark red cloak. No face to be seen. I tried to call to my husband sleeping next to me but could not get the words out. Finally not long after, reality was setting back in ( even though this truly seemed real) as the figure turned back into the curtain hanging next to me. I can’t seem to shake this horrible feeling I had. It’s comforting to know I’m not alone. Guess maybe I should get back on my antidepressants since it doesn’t seem to happen while I’m on them. Thanks for letting me share.

  15. I have dreams of something smoothing me I can’t breathe. But I always feel something get in bed with me I feel it walking. It takes it’s claws like a cat and is trying to pull me down. It is holding my arms where I can’t move. I am screaming but I guess it is just in my sleep. My boyfriend does not hear me. I fight it and tell it to go to hell and kicking the bed really hard.I say my prayers that God make it go away.
There have been times I feel it get in bed with me but snuggled up against my feet. I don’t take medicine only in the morning for depression. My family thinks I am going crazy want to put me on a lot of pills.

  16. This use to happen go me when I was little but as I was a kid I just thought I was imagining things or I would just forget the experience but now I remember clearly most of them I was talking to a friend about seen a red and black demon face on the door and how I could not move or talk this was surly one of the most terrific ones this was when I went to sleep I also had one when I before waking up this women came in to my room talked to me she reminded me much of my sister now that I think about it she was my sister but older I also could not move or talk during this It wasn’t that scary because it was during the morning and I felt more safe with the woman there what I used to do was to come down and breath and then I would fully wake up and move but I would just forget what happened I felt like I was dreaming but I was still conscious very strange feeling

  17. I just had one, I couldn’t get out of this one though I just kept waking up n falling right back into one..but this time was different it felt like someone r something kept pushing me in my head.

  18. Well this happened to me today and it was so scary!
I remember feeling my heart rates go low and I said oh my God am dying! Then I said to myself so am gonna die laying on my back. Quickly I thought of my boyfriend who am in a long distance relationship with, I felt sorry for him especially after he hears am dead and he will wonder why I died! (Well we were not in good terms but we were trying to get back). After I thought of him I said to God I don’t wanna die yet then suddenly my heart rates or beats increased, started beating really fast as if someone was seating on my chest and I couldn’t breathe well! I remember struggling to get one deep breath coz I believed if I managed that then I would get strength to wake up since my body felt so weak but my brain was aware of everything!

Then I managed to get the heavy breath and woke up panicking! I said thank u Jesus, Quickly grabbed my phone to call my boyfriend! I woke up feeling very thirsty plus it’s like I had wrapped myself in a bedsheet as it stopped me from sitting up! I remember the air was to heavy in the room so had to check if the windows were open then went to turn on the fan!
I didn’t drink water as I was scared since I heard that if people want to die they feel very thirsty and demand water so I stayed awake!

  19. I just had an “episode” but I’m not sure if it was a dream or actual SP.
I was dreaming about ghosts and spirits and then I woke up. I was in my room, sleeping on my back, right next to the wall and I could see light entering from the window like when before the sun starts to rise. I started feeling like I was being pushed into the mattress. By parts, the right, the left part of my chest. My mind started racing, is this SP?? Am I going to see a demon? is something going to sit upon my chest? I was trying to see if there was something there but it was still too dark. I wasn’t moving, I don’t recall trying to move, but I remember lying very still on the bed. While thinking what that was that I was feeling, I thought “but I am awake!!” and kept thinking “I’m awake” until in my mind I screamed “I am awake!!!!!!” and then I “woke up”. I was lying in the same position, on my back, right next to the wall, seeing the light come in through the window. My arms had that tingling feeling, they were paralized. I was really scared. I turned on the light and I didn’t want to go back to sleep. I was falling asleep but I forced myself to stay awake. I always sleep on my side, I don’t know why I was on my back. I never sleep on my back.
I don’t know If I had SP or if I dreamed about it. I had read about sleep paralysis and I knew what it was so maybe that helped me get out of it, but the feeling of waking up after is what makes me think it was all a dream.

  20. Today I experienced my first, what I’m assuming is, sleep paralysis. I was watching a movie at around 10 A.M. or so and fell asleep, was awoken by a phone call before the movie had ended, talked for a few minutes and went back to sleep. I was sleeping on my stomach somewhat hanging off the bed and I “awoke” to hearing somebody else in the room. I couldn’t move my head to see who it was, but as the fact I was not home alone I thought it was my mother-in-law. It sounded like she was eating a snack. It sounded like she was close, as if she was sitting on the bed but I couldn’t feel her weight on it. I noticed I was having a hard time breathing, and then noticed I couldn’t move my body, this freaked me out so my heart started beating really fast. I could have swore I was moving my feet though, ever so slightly. I could have swore I even heard my mother-in-law whisper “they need to clean this room.” As I said I was having a hard time breathing and thought it was the fact I was laying in such a strange position. But I couldn’t turn my body around or talk. All I could do was see the floor and make tiny screams and hardly mumble words. I was trying to kick my feet to notify my mother-in-law that I was not in control. I felt her then lift up my feet for me, and then set them back down. I tried again to notify her I couldn’t breath my forcing my leg to fall off of the bed and start kicking on the floor and then
I stopped and put my leg back onto the bed. I then came to the conclusion that she couldn’t understand I was in distress or hear me quietly mumble “flip me over” so I then tried moving my body off the bed to fall onto the floor, it felt like I moved not even an inch but that was about it. Towards the end I felt that I was partially asleep. I just kept focusing on the floor and trying to slow my heart down from beating so rapid. As I was doing that I could feel I gained full consciousness and quickly turned over. I saw my mother-in-law was not in the room and I never heard the door close. I also noticed my legs and feet were still underneath my blanket so that means I wasn’t actually kicking. I had no idea what just happened but all felt so real. So here I am, on the internet trying to figure out what on earth happened to me. One thing I noticed from this website is that everyone refers to the being in their room as a demon. I thought my mother-in-law was in the room, and to fill people in my boyfriend and I have strong negative feelings towards her, I do not think of her as someone I can trust, as I was experiencing this it was no surprise to me that instead of helping me she was eating a snack. So maybe in a way I did experience my own version of a demon, as I am not religious.

  21. I had an episode last night and was afraid to go back to sleep. I’ve been having these episodes since my early 20’s and I’m 30 now. The past few days it has been ongoing non-stop. It sounds like someone is walking around my bed and choking me. I can’t speak or move. I normally can wake up and pray but lately that isn’t working. Whenever I have these episodes I sleep with ALL the lights on and it normally goes away. The episode I had the night before, this demon was choking me and it felt like I was dying. It didn’t have eyes just all black. I woke up crying afraid to go back to sleep. Last week I felt this demonic presence and I thought I woke up and when I looked in the mirror this thing was inside of me controlling my movements. My eyes were blacked out. I woke up, cut the bathroom light on and went back to sleep. I don’t understand why this is happening but I’m losing sleep and I’m tired of getting tormented by this demon. I never told anyone about these episodes because I knew no one could understand. I’m tired of feeling scared to fall asleep. I thought I was the only one with these episodes. I personally feel these are demonic spirits that are attacking me. This has nothing to do with science. I’m healthy and active plus I don’t sleep on my back, I sleep on my side and still get attacked.

    • It just Happened to me this was so scary
      I’m religious, but I do mess up; I’m 19.
I felt the demon choking me as if I was going to die.
I cried out for lord and it went away.
I called my dad who has been saved for 10+ years to tell him I was spiritually attacked.

    • Your case seems different that everyone else’s. I don’t know if you are religious at all. Or what you believe. But you should pray for these spirits to go away from your life in the name of Jesus Christ. Say they have no control over your life. I will personally pray for you tonight feb 17 so none of this happens to you again.

  22. I had sleep paralysis at least 3 time in single night, thanks for sharing some info about this bizzare sleeping disorder.

  23. Just an advice in case your case you hallucinate during sleep paralysis: don’t try to open your eyes first during the attack, wait for it to end first. In my case, it happens when I sleep in any position but I’m usually not facing the ceiling which is ultimately the best position because it doesn’t help visual hallucinating.

Also a quick question for the people who suffer from sleep paralysis. Have you been visited by a black figure when you were a child? Around 6-11 years old?

  24. I experienced sleep paralysis for the first time in the early hours of this morning. I woke up feeling paralysed. I also felt a heavy weight pushing down or sitting on my back it was as if someone was laying down on top of me. I tried to scream but I was unable to speak. My mouth opened slightly but no sound was able to come out. I layer there feeling conscious and scared. After a few minutes I was able to call my mom. It felt very real as if a being of some sort was with me. I could literally feel the pressure lift from my body when the sleep paralysis stopped. I hope that this does not happen to me again. I feel very anxious when I need to go to sleep. Having the flu is also not very helpful as my chest already feels tight. My parents told me it was just a bad dream. However, it is not just a dream to someone who experiences sleep paralysis

  25. My first memorable sleep paralysis incident went like this: I laid down for a bit for an afternoon nap – i remember feeling a pressure on the bed like someone sat down next to me (this is a common beginning to all subsequent events) – I remember feeling positive about it at the time, thinking it was my dog. When i suddenly remembered I didn’t have this dog anymore, i went into a panic and was immediately sat upon by a demonic entity. I saw three other entities standing by my door looking at me, and heard a LOUD voice (very robotic, digital? in another language … and sounded like it was being broadcast within my head). After a struggle I was able to wake up. I had multiple similar instances since that one, and then had a long break (years) where I didn’t have any, until this morning … where a large black demonic looking dog (like the ones in the Omen) was on my bed and sniffing at my face.

I have since read everything I could find on this subject, and (ready for this?) my personal belief is that some sort of inter-dimensional travel is happening during sleep, and Sleep Paralysis is somehow occurring when when we are caught between worlds. The demonic nature of the entities just doesn’t seem like something my mind is creating on it’s own to account for a mind/body disconnect. The entities I encounter seem malicious and also curious to see me noticing them. I’m not buying the official scientific explanation, sorry.

    • What is the demons we know as demons were also hallucinated by our oldest ancestors, and they too saw the things we see today and that is what they agreed to call demons among other names in different languages. Is it so hard to believe? My counter to the whole demon hypothesis is simply asking why would a demon haunt you as you are in sleep paralysis but not when you are awake and alone in the dark or some other scenario where they could just as easily scare you?

  26. I have sleep paralysis at least once or twice a month. The demon presence is really strange, because I am able to wake myself up with screaming and then i open my eyes and see the demon in the room. My brain seems to be projecting it onto reality in my waking state. I have had this happen over 15 times at least…. I am an atheist and was raised by two non-religious people and find this very strange, since I have no religiously imposed oppression or even a belief in demons… Yet most of my sleep paralysis episodes include flying in some demonic space or domain, or seeing the demons present in my room after I wake up. I really just dont understand what is happening. Two nights ago I was flying in some portal of hell and someone was hunting me in order to perform an exorcism on me. I am lucky to be able to scream in a high pitch which usually wakes me up, but the intensity of the nightmare is so real that it takes me a long time to calm down and fall back asleep. Just thought I would share.. I really have no insight into why this is happening to me. I am a very happy and balanced individual.. the other strange thing is that I am always flying in these dreams, or my spirit is floating or hovering/lucid dreaming??.. Anybody else experience that?

    • I do experience episodes of flying, and also a feeling that they is an intruder in the house,I also scream when this happen.

  27. My first and only experience happened to me about 2 years ago. I had a long day and school and I was taking a long nap while my mom went to work. I suddenly woke up and was paralyzed. The worst part was I felt like someone or something was squeezing my foot. So after some initial panic I started wiggling one toe and got out of bed. It was scary and I oddly start getting teary eyed when writing this. Let’s just say I slept with my mom for the rest of the week

  28. About 6 years ago I had experiences with the devil, it lasted a few months. Tonight, I decided to get an hour of rest. I’ve been sick lately and working everyday. I feel asleep for about 20 minutes. When suddenly I woke up with extreme body jerking. When I woke up I grasped for air, it felt like something had been choking me. My throat hurt for about an hour. There was an odd sensation being awake, thinking it had to be demonic. Then I decided to go to the store. I always check under my vechile for cats, before I drive off. I was checking under the vechile in the back, when all of sudden. A black shadow figure flyed right toward me, looked at me in my face then disappeared. What is going on? Sorry I don’t believe this is some type of science.

  29. I’ve experienced this at least 100 times with vivid memories of night terrors from 2 or 3 years old. I have had tactile, audio and visual hallucinations. I would say 90% of the time it comes across as a fearful to terrifying experience. Other times the adrenaline wave doesn’t hit and I either shake it off or fall back asleep with trace memories the next day. Sometimes I think I shake it only for it to reoccur multiple times over the course of what feels like an eternity. On one or two occasions it has hit me like I’m a charged ball of radiating energy and have control over my body and mind. It’s difficult to articulate. I’ve read extensively since I was a teenager and it’s so nice to see how much material is now out there. I had so many unique terrifying experiences that I journaled from thinking it was aliens abduction; a haunting; a demon; and a deceased loved one. Most of the time I experience this as there is something in the room, just outside the room or right next to me but I cannot turn to see it. I think because of the terror of not being able to move I do almost always perceive that whatever it is, it means to harm me. I almost always have ringing in the ears, and almost always have this while I’m on my back. There seems to be a psychosomatic response as I have in my fear locked onto ideas or thoughts of what might be happening only to have those ideas manifest. One time I knew there was something next to me…it drew in closer and closer and then just as I thought it was going to grab me, something grab my arm tightly. To this day, the experience was so real that I’m always afraid of something grabbing me. Tactile hallucinations feel so real that they are difficult even for the rational to shake. I do believe these to be a major influence or the major influence to perceived alien abductions. After watching an abduction movie when I was a teenager, I had an episode right after and the second I thought abduction all the windows lit up bright white with blinding light.
Gosh I could go on and on but I’m honestly worried I might help induce an episode. The rational side of me knows that this is a mild sleep disorder. I grew up Catholic but I no longer practice any organized religion. These episodes are perhaps the only experiences that have happened to me so far that I don’t have full explanations for. At the very least it has allowed me to experience another level of consciousness which I hope may one day give me greater insight into self. Although mostly all negative experiences, they are uniquely mine. Last thing I want to share… I’m 30 years old and so focused on the negative aspects whenever I read about sleep paralysis in night terrors I didn’t realize the tremendous gift that also came in the package deal. These guys at work were talking about lucid dreaming and explaining what it was and that they were trying to do it. I got all confused with what they were explaining. I had as long as I had remembered always gone to bed and unless exhaustion took me, always started creating a dreamscape with different levels of control. I had the ability to repeat dreams and to get up from a dream and lay back down and put myself back to some degree. I just thought everyone did it. So on a positive note, I was a natural lucid and vivid dreamer. Okay, end rant. I’ve also explored a couple great ideas for a horror film.

  30. I have been having these experiences of something climbing into bed with me,it’s like a heavy weight pushing me! I also hear soft whispering but can,t make out what is being said and no matter what way I turn there is a very cold feeling around my face! I have put 2 crosses on the wall and even though I,m not religious I asked a friend to bring me back some holy water from a recent trip that she made to Lourdes, I have sprayed this around the room each night whilst saying the lord’s prayer, it has,nt made things any better! I have now moved into another bedroom as too scared to sleep in my own bedroom, I don’t have these experiences anywhere else in the house,

  31. I have always suffered from sleep paralysis as a child growing up. It was always the mild version: I couldn’t move, my breathing became shallow nothing to crazy. Fast forward my entire adult 20’s I smoked weed everday. As people know this affects REM sleep and I never had an episode. I actually forgot that it was a thing. I stopped smoking weed OCT 2016. Here comes the creepy stuff. I started having sleep paralysis and actually having auditory hallucinations. I would began to get this loud dull ringing in my ears and in my head. I would not be able to move my body but it would sound like someone being the room with me or my son turning on his playstation. Creepy but tolerable. My real scary one was in January of this year. I was laying on my side with both hands stretched out. The ringing in my head started. I felt i was resting, my body could not move and I saw a figure standing over me. This figure then placed his fingers on the back of both my hands. Where I was being touched was a slight burning sensation. This went on for a while then I snapped out of it. Very Creepy right. Not even the half that exact same night I was admitted to the hospital for blood poisoning. Ironically the IV was put in to the back of my left hand and they continued to take blood from the back of my right hand. So not only did I have the hallucinations, they actually came to fruition. My second one this month sent me into tears. The intense rigning starts. I am again on my side, the figure shows up and is extremely close. I am aware I am in an episode so I am trying to move so I can snap out of it. I feel my hand move to swat at the figure and it seems as if he grabs my hand and is turning it over looking at it. The he proceeds to try to inject something in to my arm. I panic, I jerk my self awake and the figure fades backwards to my bathroom and waving at me. WTF right. How am I ever supposed to sleep again?!?!?

  32. I just had sleep paralysis this morning. I get sleep paralysis at least once every 2 weeks and this has been going on for 9 years. The first time I had it I was 13 and was sleeping on my stomach. I remember waking up from my dream but not being able to move and feeling a pressure on my back like someone was sitting on my back. While that was happening I was also hearing a deep man voice that was chanting something in my ear in a language I couldn’t understand. It lasted for a while and I remember thinking that I was dying. As soon as I was able to move, I ran to my parents bedroom and was crying and they said it was just a dream. Over the years when I would be paralyzed upon waking, I would see the scariest things like a man with a distorted face walking toward me while someone was humming in my ear or I would see a woman with a cut up face smiling a sinister smile at me while I heard children laughter in my ear. This morning I had a different experience. I couldn’t really sleep last night. Everytime I would try i would dream for a little bit and then wake up paralyzed with no hallucinations. Once I snapped out of it I would fall back asleep only to dream a little again and wake up paralyzed with no hallucinations once again. The last time I got the sleep paralysis this morning I woke up to being lifted off my bed and my head was shaking rapidly with my mouth wide open and I couldn’t close it. I was yelling loudly in monotone voice. While all this was going on I was having a sharp pain in my stomach. It felt like someone was putting their fist through my stomach. The pain was still there a little even after the sleep paralysis was over with. I never felt pain ever until today during a sleep paralysis and never been lifted off my bed either. It was extremely scary and makes me not want to sleep ever again. I called my husband immediately after this but he didn’t really know what to say. He has never experienced sleep paralysis before. Im sick of sleep paralysis and wish there was a medication to keep it away.

  33. Thank you Ethan, for this site. I just visited my GP yesterday because I finally had some science behind my many years of “spirit visitations”. My first was at age 13. Your last personal experience was my own, except I had just learned about “mind over matter” in my 7th grade class, so after praying so hard for my Heavenly Father to save me, the thought came to my mind. I proceeded to focus on opening my eyes. Big mistake because when I did I saw a woman with no face by my bed outlined in glowing fire. She disappeared, as I screamed out. I of course told no one. This “spirit” followed me for 7 years. Each paralysis brought the same feelings but I would “fight” right away and never let it get to the point that I might open my eyes and see her. Years later as an adult, one night a rarity happened. The episode occurred three nights in a row. I prayed very hard for God to help me. A couple days later I met missionaries from a Christ centered church. Long story short I joined said church (not only because of these experiences) but because they were awesome. After my baptism, the visitations from that “spirit” stopped. Occasionally I would “see people” while falling asleep but they changed, no longer dark they were more just startling. Trying to understand, it actually led me to begin family history work with genealogy as I began to feel they were my ancestors. So as bad and scary as it all was, these experiences led me to good and positive venues in my life. In the last two weeks though, much has intensified with dark scary visions, feelings and once again a paralysis episode with touching, tingling, and dark figures. Hence, I went online in desperation and in my research on insomnia with “ghosts” found a “name to the game” if you will. Now I am blessed by you all here to know there is a scientific physical reason for my hallucinating and insomnia and paralysis. This last year, I was diagnosed with hypothyroid and Sjögren’s autoimmune disorder. My stresses have been intense so no wonder things would get worse. So now my journey has a name and hopefully soon, some treatment. Even with this discovery, my faith in a loving Heavenly Father is not altered, as I believe He has led me here ? Thanks for all your research and long hours of work. Thank you for sharing!

  34. This happened last night. I was asleep on my stomach next to my 3 year old son. My son was asleep on his back. I woke up because the bed was shaking. I opened my eyes and there was a demon on my son. The demon had his hands on my son’s shoulders, shaking him. I tried to help him but I couldn’t move and I couldn’t talk. The demon then went into my son’s body because I saw the demon’s face on my son’s face. Then I woke up. It really scared me and I don’t understand what this means.

    • Happened anything since then? Is your child all right? I dont belive in ghosts and nothing spiritual, but this story is very terrifying. I’ve never experienced sleep paralysis before, but I wish to know, that after you wake up, how much do you feel, if it was real or fictitious?

  35. I decided to take a nap around 8:30 tonight than I felt I wanted to wake up as I felt a bad presence in the room as if it was on the side of me, I was sleeping on my side as I usually do. I felt pressure on my body as I couldn’t move I couldn’t speak at first I couldn’t open my eyes, I felt I was being assaulted.
I began trying to fight it I tired to turn to my other side to see what it was, but I couldn’t turn around I felt angry frustrated and scared.
I have had these episodes many times before.
The oddest part of this is my cat who sleeps next to me every night was by side when I had fallen to sleep, when I finally forced my eyes open or they opened,
I saw my cats face looking above me to the side I felt something was there, I looked at her and she looked back down to me and her mouth didn’t move but she told me boogeyman. As strange as that sounds, My cat has many time’s looked around my room and acts as if she see things.
So I don’t know..all I know is it has been my experience.
I am a realistic I have never delved in the spirit world never wanted such things in my world until by accident came across these thing’s.
But things I have experienced for certain. I had filmed once in my room to see what my cat does when I’m not there, much to my surprise I saw and heard thing’s I never could have imagined.
So I did than do a few more video’s had some very intense things happen not only in the videos but in my home.
But as of now I let it be in say my nightly prayer and go on in my life.
And as of a year now haven’t had much to report on as far as what I had dealt with.
But to me after all of these thing’s I truly feel it is from the spirit world.

  36. You might not believe me but this is my story I was in bed fast asleep I woke up something was pushing down on my chest I couldn’t breath like somebody was choking me there was something at the side of my bed my eyes were to blurry to make out what it was then it got closer and all of a sudden I woke up not knowing what happened then I fell asleep I got up int the morning and all of a sudden I couldn’t walk my back and chest were so sore too sore

  37. I had the same experiences. I feel like someone is trying trying to break in. Then after that. I feel like I can’t move but I am. I even talk. And I can’t breathe. I feel like I’m having a seizure. But when. I wake up and I wake up my fiance and describe this to me. And ask him did he heard me say his name and he said on. I said about me moving kicking u. Nothing he said. What is going on? Is this normal? I’m 27 and have isonmia bad. But I feel like I can’t go back this sleep. Help me!

  38. Hey I don’t know if this is Sleep Paralysis but it’s only happen to me 3 times a long time ago where I woke up but my eyes were still closed and I was still having my nightmare when I would this very uncomfortable almost feeling in the middle of my back…Do you know what this is?

  39. I’m writing this 30 mins after my experience while its fresh on my mind . I awoke in bed with the sound of a weird breathing sound in my ear almost like rustling paper. It continued threw the whole experience, I felt someone forearm across my throat and I could barely breath . I was paralyzed . Tried again and again to move with no luck . This went on for at least a minute . The sound finally went away getting less faint . Now this is what really scared me I felt next to my leg the weight of the bed rise like if someone’s knee was there then it got up off the bed . I sat up and then I heard a door close across the house . I turned on the lights checked the house nothing .im not very religious but I seriously am thinking about calling a priest to bless my house . When we first moved in I would have bad vibes but they went away . Someone was murdered in this house in a dispute with a roommate before we bought the house . So I think there might be some bad energy here . I do believe energy transfers from one thing or person and maybe it’s stuck here. Jan.20.2017 —450am

  40. Hi
It just happened to me. Just few minutes back. I am alone at home. Little stressed out and planned to take an evening nap. I was awake few minutes back and then may be I felt asleep. As I was alone, even in my dream I could make it that I am alone and suddenly I felt that someone stepped onto my bed and is walking towards me. I was feeling it and I was in my senses to the best of my knowledge. I could feel the steps coming towards me. And I knew i was all alone. Then the person or what so ever it was, sat on me and I could feel as if its getting into me. There was a feeling that something is getting into me and I was so scared to open my eyes. But then I opened my eyes and ran out of the room. I started praying and then luckily got a call from one of my friends. So it helped me getting distracted. Then I searched on intenet and found this thing. But I could feel it. It was so real. I am scared. Still after reading this article I am scared. It was toooo real. I could feel the footsteps on the bed mattress coming towards me and then something sitting on me.
