Sleep Paralysis Stories: Demons Or Hallucinations?

image of a classical painting representing sleep paralysis

Sleep paralysis stories typically involve unusual and frightening experiences. Perhaps you have one or two of these disturbing tales of your own to tell.

If not, I’ll first share one of mine to give you an understanding of what it can be like.

Then we’ll take a closer look at whether sleep paralysis demons or ghosts really exist. Or if science can provide a logical and comforting explanation.

My sleep paralysis experience

Imagine the following scenario: it’s been a long day, you go to bed later than usual and fall asleep quickly through sheer exhaustion.

But instead of waking up peacefully in the morning, you half wake in the middle of the night. And in the darkness of your bedroom, it slowly dawns on you that you can’t move your body…and that someone, or something, is watching you.

A weight pushing on your chest

You feel a weight on your chest, pressing you down and preventing you from sitting up. And not only is your whole body paralyzed, but you can’t so much as move your lips to call out for help.

You’re not sure who or what is pushing on your chest. Even though you seem to be able to move your eyes just a little, it’s too dark to see anyway. Regardless, you just feel that there’s a presence there. Something strange. Something frightening.

This happened to me last year and was a very unsettling experience. Fortunately, there was no demon, ghost or burglar in my bedroom.

After a minute’s panic, the feeling passed. And I was then able to stumble to the bathroom to make sure my face wasn’t decorated with demonic symbols. It was a classic case of sleep paralysis.

What is sleep paralysis?

Recurrent isolated sleep paralysis is classified as a parasomnia, which is a group of sleep disorders involving unwanted behaviors that accompany sleep.

The main symptom is being awake and unable to move your body. It might also be accompanied by hallucinations or dreams/nightmares whilst still awake.

It typically lasts from a few seconds to a few minutes before movement is regained. And although it may feel like it at the time, it’s not believed by medical organizations to be harmful.

What causes it?

The exact reason for why it happens to some people and only on some nights isn’t known. However, scientists do have a theory about what goes on during sleep paralysis.

During the night, you cycle through different sleep stages. When you enter the REM stage of sleep, your brain stops your muscles from moving – known as REM atonia. One explanation for this atonia is that it prevents injury from acting out your dreams in bed.

During sleep paralysis, the atonia starts, or continues, while you’re awake. And during this time, you might also experience what’s known as sleep hallucinations, or dreams while you’re awake.

So your body and brain are temporarily out of sync while transitioning between sleep stages, potentially creating a frightening experience.

As Dr. Michael J. Breus neatly explains:

Sleep scientists believe that sleep paralysis may occur when the transitions in and out of REM sleep and other sleep stages don’t go smoothly.

How many people experience sleep paralysis?

Sleep paralysis stories like mine are surprisingly common. In 2011, researchers aggregated 35 sleep paralysis studies to find out how many people had experienced it at least once in the past year, finding:

  • 7.6% of the general population
  • 28.3% of students
  • 31.9% of psychiatric patients

And according to the handbook of sleep disorders, it will happen at least once in a lifetime of 40% to 50% of normal subjects, but is “far less common as a chronic complaint”.

Who is more at risk of having sleep paralysis?

Scientists might not know the precise reason only some people have sleep paralysis yet, but there are a growing number of risk factors becoming apparent.

For example, researchers who analyzed 42 studies found several risk factors and associated conditions:

  • Sleep problems, changing sleep patterns and shift work.
  • Sleep disorders such as narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia and nocturnal leg cramps.
  • Stress.
  • Some psychiatric groups, particularly those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety and panic disorders.
  • Substance and medication use.
  • Physical illness.
  • Personality and anomalous beliefs.

Is there a genetic component to sleep paralysis?

In 2015, British researchers published a study of 862 twins and siblings aged between 22 and 32. They did find some evidence of a genetic role, but only a small one:

In this sample of young adults, sleep paralysis was moderately heritable

Interestingly, they also found other independent risk factors, including:

  • Disrupted sleep cycles
  • General sleep quality
  • Anxiety symptoms
  • Exposure to threatening events

Polls – readers’ experience of sleep paralysis

I polled readers of this article for a year to find out what kind of sleep paralysis episodes they had.

Note that it’s likely that many people who search online about it will have had the more frightening episodes, skewing the results.

But they still provide a fascinating insight into what people experience and how they cope.

Poll 1

In poll 1, the most common episode was thinking there was a demon or other being in the room.

Poll 2

Poll 2 shows that many readers find sleep paralysis terrifying. Again, those who search online for it are likely to have found it particularly disturbing.

The not so scientific explanations for sleep paralysis

image of a woman floating above the bed

Since first writing this article several years ago, there has been an extraordinary number of comments. And the comments show that not everyone accepts the scientific explanation.

Interestingly, some people struggle to accept it even though they consider themselves to be scientifically minded generally. I think these cases highlight just how realistic the experience of sleep paralysis can be; how it can linger in your memory and makes you question what happened for a long time afterward.

The possibility of demons, ghosts, spiritual beings, and aliens all crop up from time to time in the comments too. And while many people accept their experiences as hallucinations or dreams, some people choose to believe another explanation – that those entities are real.

Despite these beliefs, there’s one clear theme: nothing bad ever actually happens, other than being frightened and perhaps losing some sleep after an episode.

Around the world

Cultural beliefs also appear to play a role in how sleep paralysis is perceived by some people.

In Fiji, for example, the demon is sometimes seen as a deceased relative coming back to discuss an important or unfinished matter.

In Chinese folklore, it’s also seen as a ghost rather than a demon or intruder.

Some people in Iran and Pakistan interpret it as demons or spirits taking over your body. This could be due to black magic performed by an enemy.

The common theme is that the entity is usually something to be feared. I’m yet to find a culture which believes it’s a friendly creature!

Sleep paralysis treatment

When to see a doctor

Fortunately, most people don’t experience sleep paralysis very often, and no treatment is usually required.

However, if the following apply to you, it’s a good idea to speak to your doctor:

  • It happens regularly.
  • You’re anxious about sleep paralysis and going to sleep.
  • You don’t get enough sleep.
  • You feel very sleepy during the day, sometimes fall asleep suddenly or lose control of your muscles.

What medical treatment is available?

If you see a doctor, they might take the following action:

  • Refer you to a sleep specialist to assess if you have another sleep disorder, like narcolepsy.
  • Treat any underlying psychiatric condition.
  • Discuss any medication or substance use that might be a factor.
  • Explain the biological processes involved in sleep paralysis to reassure you.
  • Talk to you about developing good sleep habits. This is thought to help reduce the frequency of sleep paralysis.

Readers’ techniques for coping with sleep paralysis

Over the years, many readers have described how they cope with sleep paralysis, and I’ve created a list of the most frequent ideas below.

The first seven in the list are also suggested by sleep experts. The rest are a mix of personal opinions. Please bear in mind that none are guaranteed to work:

  • Don’t let yourself become too sleep-deprived.
  • Stick to a regular sleep schedule.
  • Try to reduce stress and anxiety in your life.
  • Try to vigorously flutter your eyelids or move your eyes, as this tends to be an area of the body that’s less affected by the paralysis.
  • Focus on wiggling just one finger or a toe.
  • Don’t take recreational drugs or drink alcohol in the evening.
  • Don’t sleep on your back.
  • Stay calm.
  • Tell yourself that you’re in control. You can order the experience to stop.
  • If you feel a weight on your chest, imagine there’s something friendly causing it.
  • Film yourself sleeping so you can see there was nothing in the room.
  • Don’t think about what it could be. Your imagination will probably make up something scary in the darkness.
  • Organize your bedroom in a way that makes you feel safe and secure.
  • Don’t hang dressing gowns, coats, or hats in places that make them look like figures in the dark.
  • Sleep with a night light, music, or radio on.
  • Remind yourself that nothing bad will happen.
  • Imagine your body rolling from side to side in your mind and count each roll. Focus on this and try to grow the capacity for movement from there.
  • Count numbers to focus your mind on something else.
  • Don’t sleep with a high pillow.
  • Keep your eyes shut and try to clear your mind.
  • Squeeze your eyes tightly shut if you can control the muscles.
  • Keep well hydrated – drink water before going to bed.
  • Talk about it to family or friends – they may have experienced it too.
  • If you have it once, get out of bed for a while to reset the brain.
  • Many people say prayer helps. Some also say that calling on their religious beliefs and commanding what they see to leave helps them.
  • Check if any sleeping pills or herbal remedies you’re taking are causing it.
  • Use sleep paralysis to lucid dream by relaxing and going with the experience instead of fighting it.
  • Once the episode has passed, tell yourself that you overcame it, are not afraid and will always overcome it.

How I recently stopped an episode of sleep paralysis

I successfully used two of the above techniques to stop a recent episode of sleep paralysis.

I woke to find myself in a strange position with my arms crossed on top of my body. And I could literally feel strong hands pinning my wrists to my chest.

I have to admit I was immediately petrified. The whole event was blurry, and I think I was having some dream overlap, but can’t remember exactly what now.

Stay calm and wiggle a finger

Two things sprung to mind after a moment of panic: stay calm and try to wiggle a finger.

The calmness I only managed with moderate success. But I did manage to focus my efforts on moving a finger. It felt quite odd – like my fingers were wiggling in different directions!

Eventually, I felt my arms loosen as well, and soon afterward I was able to shake the whole sensation away as I regained full control.

I then spent a few minutes doing some breathing exercises to ground myself and calm down, and then fell asleep again.

I think just knowing about the finger wiggling technique was enough for me to remember it when the sleep paralysis occurred.

  1. I have prayed many times to Jesus and this is when things have calmed down. We are spiritual beings with souls and those things visiting us at night are spiritual beings too. This scientific approach is great but it’s not doing anything to protect people from them. Prayer is what works best for people because that’s what they respond too. Speaking in the spiritual realm makes them go away, it is the language they understand. Medicine just makes us dull to them but doesn’t make them go away. These beings are real and they thrive off fear. Jesus has defeated them and they cannot be where he is. When we pray it does work – the polls suggest it too.

  2. I’ve been experiencing it for awhile now, but i have noticed it happens a lot when i’m sleep deprived. It happened to me all night last night. I;m dying at work! I even tried to sleep for awhile on my lunch break and it happened again. It’s terrifying but at least i know i’m not the only one who experiencing this awful sleep disorder. Stay Golden pony boy don’t worry to much.

  3. i have the same matter as the symptoms given in this article. during sleeping horizantal..i feel disturbed… so what can i do?

  4. Thank you for this article and forum. I finally figure out what has been happening to me. Reading this and then the comments I don’t feel so alone anymore. I’ve been having them on and off for the last 2 years.
And I had the most recent one last night.
The overwhelming fear of not being able to wake up and feeling of something/someone not letting me move can be so frightening. At first I thought it was night terrors but then my sister mentioned the documentary about sleep paralysis. Now i realize that is what I go through.
For me it is always when I start to fall asleep. And usually after I let stress keep me awake. The horrible struggle to wake myself up and try and call for help is mentally and physically exhausting.
i will try these techniques if the situation arises again!
    Thank you

  5. I experienced this for the first time last night. I am 21 years old. I “woke up” and found I could not open my eyes. I was immediately terrified, and felt like I was dying. Then I felt someone or something sit at the end of my bed near my feet – I felt the mattress dip a little. I tried to turn my head (I was laying on my side) and look and see who was there but I couldn’t move my body at all and I still couldn’t open my eyes. I knew somewhere in my brain that I was hallucinating and that nobody was really there. I knew if I could just move a little I could wake myself up and end the experience but my body was not responding, just adding to my fear. Then I felt the mattress lift so I knew the person had stood up, and I heard them walking towards the corner of my bedroom. I was absolutely terrified. I ended up just laying there in fear until I got my brain to fall back asleep.

In the moment this was absolutely horrifying and one of the scariest things that has happened to me in a very long time, but reflecting on it, it was kind of cool to experience this part of the sleep cycle that I do not normally get to experience. It’s crazy because I know that I dreamed up the person and that I was physically alone, but it felt so real because my brain was conscious that I have a hard time fully believing it was a hallucination.

Thank you for sharing the scientific side of sleep paralysis and the polls. I will put your tips to good use if I ever have this experience again.

  6. Okay so, last year between the months of December and April I would seriously have sleep paralysis every 3-4 days and sometimes even sooner. They did involve the feeling of being watched and having someone on my chest. Then they started working with false awakenings. I would finally feel like i got out if sleep paralysis and i woke up only to realize that i was in another dream and then id be pulled again into my bed, paralyzed and with a “demon”. Id freak out. After so many times of going through this id still freak out and im not really a religious person but whenever i prayed it worked. Almost always and if i didnt i would think that maybe i am dead and trapped in a nightmare. I tried talking to my mom about it she said it was stress and its non sense. I hadnt had it much after April. Really rarely and i had one today and thats why im on here i guess. Again a false awakening followed. Everything felt real. At first everything was fine, somehow my house was full of people other people my age i guess (im 18) somehow we were related but ive never seen them before. I have anxiety, like big time. The looks of my college were weird and i started realizing this is not real and I’m dreaming. I felt really depressed in the dream and i dont know why because im usually just freaking out. Even though i was partly conscious i was still going with it and i told my mom that this is not real somehow. They are not real(the other people in my house) and then i was in an operation room getting my brain fixed? I could feel the doctor putting pressure on my forehead and then said im dreaming and i need to wake up, i started freaking out and saying that i must wake up before i get stuck for good. And i kept trying, barely being able to open my eyes. And i was though opening my eyes and i started getting a feeling on my arms but still felt heavy and i tried opening my mouth to yell and i did, barely. My brother came in but my eyes got shut again and i started feeling his face and then i was feeling pulled into the dream again and i thought im still dreaming. It was another false awakening. And i was suddenly in the ocean submerged and unable to move as i was drowning and i woke up for good. And now im writing this because people that dont know about these stuff will think im crazy!

  7. Hi, it happen to me last night.. It was strange but not scary as people say it is. I had a weird experience. These last couple nights I keep waking up around 3 am or 4 am… Then last night I went back to sleep and I couldn’t move. First I heard voices, lots of them. I didn’t really listen to it much, sound like so many people were talking. I was on my side by the way. I was seeing darkness. Shadows of different figures every time I blink my eyes. I saw the man with a hat, some random figures I couldn’t identify but it was only one shadow. I tried to move my left arm since I’m left handed I knew I was in a sleep paralysis for some odd reasons. Strange. And seeing all those shadows changes every time I blink my eyes as soon as I saw alien shadows I laughed. I kind of love aliens.. Everyone always thought of them as evil but I’m a believer that they’re just like us… Soon as I laughed that’s when I was able to move again.

If I ever have the experience again I hope it’s as cute as this one. This time I wanna explore for a little.

  8. I love this article and especially the polls. Very interesting and reassuring, but wait a sec. No one else experiences SP several times per night? Maybe it just wasn’t asked, but I experience it maybe a few times a week and maybe go months without experiencing it at all but I usually struggle with a few episodes each time before I finally go to sleep. I wish this question was asked because I’ve been experiencing this for 30 years now and I’ve only heard the term, “sleep paralysis” in the last few years. About 20 years ago I thought I was over the fear when I found that the buzzing hallucinations would transform into me leaving my body and flying around in imaginable and unimaginable places if I just didn’t fight the fear, but now it’s evolving for me. I have split second buzzing episodes during my daily activities. I’ve never actually been paralyzed unless I’m trying to fall asleep, but now it’s different not only because I’m having daytime disturbances while going about my day but also because I have been fighting malevolent entities when I leave my body for months now and they are fast and scary. Tonight, one of these things had face-paint on like a demonic geisha and flew and fought with me moving like a giant eel. I thought I snapped back and maybe I did but when I returned to my body I was taunted with a dandelion in my face and when I went to swat it away, it moved and I hit my laptop (which is on my chest from how I passed out) instead.

I got startled and Googled, “sleep paralysis demons” which eventually led me to this article and decided to comment. It’s 4:02 am and it’s going to happen again and again before I get to sleep. I’m tempted to take a Zopiclone, but I get nightmares when I withdraw from that drug. My doctor is trying to get me on Trazadone but that just makes me drowsy. It’s doesn’t knock me out.
Does anyone have it more like this?

  9. This first occurred when I was 8 or 9 years old. I am now 35. But yet the occurrence of such a black entity is still very vivid in my mind today as if it were only yesterday that it happened. Everything felt so real. The presence of an existence beyond this world standing directly above me pressing the bed down and tilting it has to date been the most horrific feeling I have had in my lifetime.
I contemplated that experience for many years until the second experience occurred later in my teenage years. This time around I was mentally prepared. It was an outer body experience where the the black entity first stood by my side next to the couch I slept on that specific night. It then floated around the room in a circular slow motion for what seemed like forever. Then I remember rising toward the entity rebuking it in the name of Jesus and I haven’t had another experience since. I felt like I conquered a demon that night which had haunted me since my first experience and I will forever be grateful to the strength and courage awarded that night. Thank you Jesus!

  10. Ive experienced this many times iam a 34 year old male started abt between 1 too 2 years ago i wake up cant move cant speak feel like there something evil around thats out sight and i believe it too be true ive seen things felt them one time i woke up and was a big black cloud that looked like pure energy floating just over top me felt like it was the devil himself very powerful felt like it was pressed down on my chest only when i prayed it began too move as it got beside me i was able too roll over on my side when it was out site i was able too move many times ive exp this but the other times i could not see it and it was not as powerful maybe minions iam a believer in god if its what science says than why do most sp experiencers say they feel presence of evil? from what ive read

    • Its funny….a black mist os always how O would have described it. Very scary and whole room shaking as in cupboard doors etc. It stopped when I left the house and only happened in one other house since. Very bizarre

  11. I experienced it this morning April 16, 2017, as I was very restless lying on my side facing the window not towards the television I began to hear foot steps running loud and fast as stomping as I went to turn around it had a hold on me I couldn’t move or speak aloud calling as I began to call on GOD. It also felt something going inside of me, and when I did come to myself I started praying. I continue to say aloud Satin I rebuke you in the name of Jesus. I’m afraid and have been up and awaken since. This experience has scared me so bad and being home alone due to daughter on Spring break visiting out of town.

  12. I have terrible sleep paralysis episodes. I usually see my father in the room with me. He was not a kind man and I was terrified of him in my youth. He is always sexually assaulting me or he is saying awful things to me in my paralysis episodes, although these things did not occur in real life. I begged my psychiatrist for help as the sleep paralysis episodes were happening at leat twice a month! After experimenting with some narcolepsy medication, he put me on Vyvanse, which is for ADHD. I no longer have the terrifying night terrors! If I miss a dose, it happens again, though. So I am careful to not run out and take it on time every day.

  13. My sp was very different, it all started to happen when I was just a teenager probably around 13, I had just woken up and realized there was something wrong. I managed to get a good view and it seemed like I could see a girl standing above me it seemed like she had blood and cuts all over her face. at this time I was sharing a room with my mom and brother because we had gotten kicked out of our home, they were fast asleep I really couldn’t move or get there attention, it took me a little while but I was able to pull the blanket I had over my face, it seemed like I just sat their shaking I prayed alot then. That was only my first experience out of many witch I think are all related, so the next time it happened I was 14 we had moved into a new house and I remember this time when it happened I went to bed and then the next thing I knew my room was all green, I remember I had a green lava lamp but it was never that bright or lit up the room, I had a feeling like something took me or idk the feeling is so unique and scary theirs really no way to explain it but I knew that I needed to get out of that room. idk how much time passed but I finally got the strength to move and I ran into my moms room and hid under some covers I remember shaking really bad and I kept on having dreams or visions like I could see around the outside of my house and this little ship came in, I was still awake or stuck in between but I noticed that the object came into the house and it hovered into our hallway right outside the room and then took off out the door, by this time I was trying to call for help but it was as if no one was there and then that’s when I stopped shaking and I felt I was surrounded by these creatures,if I could explain them they had tentacles but arms and legs like normal people some had tails others didn’t they were fascinated with me, touching me and communicating with me I knew they weren’t from this plane or dimension or whatever people experience, I woke up the next day and I was in a different room then I originally went to and I never spoke of it after that I always shrugged it off thinking about it would give me anxiety like something had happened, but If it did I didn’t want to cross that line. My next experience happened at the same house where I saw the girl (some people would say the old hag), I was 15 at this time, i remember I was laying on my back and I would leave my computer running on a screensaver that changed to different random pictures, so the next thing I know I wake up out of a dead sleep but I can’t move and the screensaver was stuck on a picture of a demon In the shape of smoke from the two towers when they got hit, that wasn’t the worst part tho I had a feeling that there was something in the room just standing there watching me it moved right next to my bed and the closer it got the more scared I got like it was keeping me there feeding off my fear, i had to draw in all the strength in my body and still then as i moved i was being pushed back i remember trying to turn my tv off it was stuck on static ants but i never remembered turning the tv on, once I got it off I remember running into the living room as if I was being chased I still had a feeling of something there so I imagined a barrier of pure light like energy around my body and I prayed that god and Jesus help to keep the thing that was bad from entering or staying in my energy field after that I created, i felt relief and passed out after that. for the Last experience I will share with you all just because this is pretty hard reading for a comment lol. But it happened in the hospital I was around 19 and i put myself into a psych unit because I was struggling with depression, I remember I went for med call and took my medicine then went to bed It usually takes a good hour before I even enter the first stages of sleep, but I remember thinking about a time I had a SP episode with a friend I just couldn’t stop thinking about that feeling you get when its about to happen, just an unsettling feeling and I was stressing over it because it was as if I knew something was going to happen, and yup the next thing I knew I was paralyzed I remember trying my hardest to call for help like I was fighting so hard I managed to mutter something I think and I was able to punch the wall next to me as i was trying to call for help. the next day I was out of it, spacey, tired, lethargic, I had no energy, it was after that that things started to get weird, my roommate wouldn’t talk to me the nurses were trying to calm him down and help him because he was seeing shadow people and a really tall woman in the corner looking at me, they had to remove a full grown man that could take his own and move him to a different one because he couldn’t step back into that room, they immediately gave me an MRI to look to see the problem but nothing, then they did an eeg (or ekg I think) when they stick all the probes to your head and put that stuff in your hair. After that they had a priest come in and ask me if there was strange things happening to me or if i had something troubling me he was really interested in trying to get me to talk about what happened and if I felt I was still felt endangered I really wasn’t to spiritual then or at least my relationship with my higher power wasn’t as strong. I haven’t had a sp episode sense then, I try not to think about me experiences either I it just causes to much anxiety and fear almost like your brains trying to block out a trauma. For me sp is real and the fact that it works with your dmt and that’s been linked to portals or gateways threw the mind to different dimensions as well only leaves me to believe that when your soul is projecting theirs always a chance that something sinister could attach itself or find interest in you. Or its just a natural occurrence fuled by adrenaline, dopamine, serotonin, epinephrine and were all just like monarch butterfly’s only to follow in the same fear as our ancestors have for millions of years.

  14. Ive had only 2 or 3 SP experiences the first one was when I was like 16 my bad had seen a dog get hit by a car outside of our house when I got home he told he what happened and i was really sad about it that night I woke up out of my sleep and couldn’t move I started panicking then I heard a loud noise and then a dog whimpering then I started trying to scream for my dad finally I could move I jumped out of my bed and ran upstairs crying the second time it happened to me I was laying on the couch and I heard mumbling coming from the front area of the house and I heard my baby crying when I was able to move again everything was quite

  15. 16. I’ve been experiencing SP for several years now but have never had the feeling of someone being in my room or something holding me down. It was always simply not being able to move. It didnt worry me too much since I knew of it happening and had researched just enough to make sure nothing was wrong. Tonight, however, I woke up about 30 minutes ago, unable to move, nothing too unusual at first. But as I started to try to move my body (usually start with my hands or feet) the feeling just got worse. Then I felt something beside my bed. I started to struggle and then I felt it on my chest, it’s head beside my own, growling. I knew it couldn’t be real but I couldn’t stop the panic. I was able to overcome the SP by wiggling each part of my body until something worked but it was the scariest SP I’ve ever experienced. I had to get up and turn all my lights on and go outsidd for fresh air before I could calm down.
I know there’s scientific explanations for it and I’m not someone who really believes in too much supernatural stuff but sometimes it really does seem like it’s something else entirely.

  17. I’ll be honest that I’m very creeped out and releived at the same time that this happens to other people besides me. It’s crazy how similar everyone’s experiences are when we are all from different backgrounds and cultures. My sleep paralysis is the same as most peoples, I always feel a huge amount of paranoia that someone or something is on my side of the bed wanting to tell me something or do something bad to me and I try to scream at it to get out of my house and my heart rate jumps up while my ears will start to ring and I can’t move or make a sound. It’s terrifying. I’m 25 and this has happened to me since I was 19. I would think it’s due to stress from when I started college and now working a full time job. But I don’t know for sure. Thanks for all the support from the article.

  18. Wanted to tell my experiences hoping they may help someone else. I’m 52 and have suffered from sleep paralysis for many years. As a child I don’t remember any episodes, but did have recurring nightmares. I will tell you that I believe in paranormal stuff. I was truly beginning to believe that our home was haunted, or worse yet, that I had something paranormal attacking me. My episodes started with a black mist coming out of the light fixture in our bedroom. I would just be about to fall asleep, the mist would start swirling and I was unable to move. It was absolutely terrifying and unexplainable to me. Why couldn’t I move, what the hell was coming out of our light, etc. I didn’t want to acknowledge a ghost, because I feared that would make it worse. I happened to be looking at the computer one day at work and saw an article describing the exact same thing. I opened the small article and it said the person had been diagnosed with sleep paralysis. After reading that, I felt like at least I’m not crazy and there was a demonic force after me. The episodes however kept happening. I always remember them. The time it happened, my husband was sleeping on the couch. I was in bed and the whole bed started coming on the floor shaking. I knew my husband was on the couch and I thought we were having an earthquake and I couldn’t move at all. I was screaming for him, still couldn’t move, and couldn’t understand why he wasn’t coming. Terrifying. Well he did come. When he touched me, I snapped out of it. According to him, I was in fact calling out, but more like a noise, and not very loud at all. I also looked like I was struggling to move, but wasn’t. I would have sworn our bed was shaking violently. It was incredibly realistic and I was visually aware of everything else in our room. He said the house had been quiet and he only heard me because he had been coming to go to the bathroom. I have found that just knowing that others have this makes me less scared. I’ve also noticed that I’m always on my back when this happens. Sometimes, I can actually start to feel this happening. Not really sure how to explain but I feel like I’m starting to dream, but yet I’m still in my room in real time, if that makes sense. Anyways, when I feel that, I readjust myself to being on my side, or move around a bit. It seems to interrupt the event and I drift off to sleep. I have had to actually get up once, because I started to relapse back into it. But most times shifting to my side works. Other times when I haven’t caught myself, I try and desperately move one part of my hand or foot. That is what eventually wakes me up. I’ve always had problems falling asleep and I notice these episodes are worse when I’m exhausted physically or mentally. I try not to get upset close to bedtime, keep to the same routine, and get as much rest as possible. Just knowing this is a real disorder helps. I truly believe if you start believing that you are being attacked by a demon that it will be even worse. I believe paranormal entities are real and can prey on weakened or susceptible people. Try and remember this is disorder and it can be explained. I hope others read this and it helps. I’ve read a lot of the other entries and there is a lot of good info in them. I wish I would have known what was happening to me a long time ago. Also talking helps. Surprisingly, a lot of people have never heard of this. Educate others so that someone else will know they aren’t crazy when it happens to them.

    • I’d like to share my one and only real sp story.

So I was sleeping in my room dreaming. In my dream visually I was exactly where I was still laying in bed. When (in my dream) I kind of hear faint steps coming to my door and the door knob starts to rattle a bit. Obviously now i’m alarmed because I live alone. Anyhow i’m just looking at the door and then BAM!..my brother walks in, all black and stands infront of the t.v almost with his hands up..like he was surrendering some how if I had to.describe it. Instantly I threw something random at him and he ducked. I mean it’s strange because I love my brother..so why did I throw something at him like I was freightened of him or wanted him gone?..even if yes, you popped into my room at god-knows what ever time it was lol. Still sleeping at this time.

So something happened to me before in a dream I never actually got to do..like LIVE and direct in dream state I was aware while sleeping thinking, breaking down the recent events that just happened a few seconds ago.

      so I came up with 3 questions;

      1) why is my brother here?
      2) why did I throw something at him?
      3) wait..hold up..is my brother still here?

forgetting to mention that after I threw said object at him, it’s like my brain said “oh that’s bro bro” and went right back to my original sleeping position. Which was laying on my left side facing the wall..which I think is important to add.

so to speed things up I asked myself that last question which was…wait, last thing I remember he walked infront of the tv, he ducked, never left.

That’s when I really felt like that last point was the nail on the head and then my eyes woke up still facing the wall. I KNEWW that what ever or whom ever I thought my brother was…wasn’t him and some how slithered from my dream into my room probably right behind me on my blind side. mind you this all happened within a minute at most i’ll say but i’m just detailing excessively due to boredom lol.

where was I? oh ya! so still looking at the wall just knowing everything is wrong, your body feels it, my soul feels it, everything is off to say the least.

so being the coward I was and not wanting to turn around obviously I right then and there thought of God, Jesus..just helping me some way or giving me the power to eradicate what ever I was too scared to face.

So while still on my side I raised my right arm, palm almost aiming at the door like a weapon and while in my head thinking of saying something out loud like “in the name jesus” or “dear god” and just when I was about to say these words is when I really felt my body lock up and couldn’t utter a word out.

I tried the 1st time to find a way and roll on my back..I barely moved a muscle but when that first sign of figt happened I swear to you I HEARD a hiss that I was even sure of hearing. Due to just waking up and all this happening so quick and scary you know?
anyway, hearing that I was scared sh*tlss and tried to fight harder this time to get in my back. It hissed again, much more louder, clearer and just demanding..if I can say that. Now I was 100% sure that this is not my mind playing tricks on me or anything..I was.scared but determined to fight.

So this time I used up any strength I had exerted everything into getting my shoulders to roll over. I felt as if I was yelling like doing that last bench press after a burn out session but in reality let out a faint “uhh” that I myself could hear.

Anyway when I back finally met with the bed again everything got silent and felt better obviously..but was definitely shaken up. Some part of me was relieved I didn’t get to see this thing but another part was furious..like I fought the weirdest hardest 60 second fight of my life and when I gain some grouns you just poof back to hell or wher ever you came from before I can see you? p
Pfft. Coward if you ask me.

this happened I wanna say about 6 months ago and i’m 23 years old.

I mentioned the positioning of sleep after reading another commenter here who said they feel better on the back or w.e it was.

I really agree. Facing the wall I feel vulnerable and even always somehow tried to align myself before sleep preparing for som.imaginary intruder.

well, it wasn’t for an imaginary person after all that’s for sure.

kudos to who read all of this. you’re the real mvp.

      • I had a dream i was petting a cat, but i felt its back and felt bumps like a cat that’s almost a skeleton from not eating. I could feel all the knots of the skeleton on its back. And it was really restless going back and forth very quickly. that’s when i thought something was wrong, and i woke up into a SP i could not move and that thing was eating on my hands (my spiritual hands) i could feel it eating on them but did not see anything. Then i thought about to say out loud “in the name of God!” But i could not say anything cause the being had shut me up so i would not say such a thing of course. But exactly when i thought about those words a VERY powerful voice of a woman said “IN THE NAME OF GOD!!!” instead of me, and that thing Hissed loudly and the SP released. I found out so many people talking about hissing and growling and the a shadow being with a hat. It all goes hand in hand. Another day i was with my friend and his friends house that i never seen before, and we where talking about SP and he said he saw a shadow being with a hat, and i stopped him and told him about all those videos of the hatman on youtube, he didn’t believe what he saw he was shocked that more people knew about it. But he said that the hat had more of a curl to it, i guess maybe it was horns instead of a hat but it just looks like a hat but its really horns? who knows. He just made me believe in the hatman even more when he told me his story not knowing anything about people seeing it also.

  19. I’m not so excellent in english but will explain my experience the best I can.

    Just today april 9 2017
    Around 10 to 11pm
I woke up for some reason. It happens to me every night, some reasons are i need to pee, i feel so cold or hot, noises upstairs or just my body want to wake up. When I woke up nothing bad happens and I checked the time on phone and decided to sleep again. But when I slowly getting back to sleep and shut my eyes. I see dark and a light blinking. And in a few moment I cannot move my body. I was so scared that I wanted to shout but my music volume is high and I just cant do any body movement. And what i remember is when i slowly or slightly open my eyes. I saw a black. Seems like shadow or something on my right and I feel like it wants to enter my body but my spirit is fighting for it.. then i fully have control on my body when i told myself “I can do this”. What l also remember but not quiete sure is before i sleep again I said to myself. God if you can’t make me strong demon or satan please take me over to have ab instant and gain power and control. So i can flow with the world and be a normal people. And it just suddenly happens right after i created those words in my brain. Sounds weird and scary. Thank you so much for reading and understanding. Hope thatcwe find answers to our questions

  20. I believe sleep paralysis runs in families. At least I know it does in mine. I have experienced it since I was a teenager, and now three of my seven children also experience it. Although it happens to me about once or twice a year, my teenaged daughter knows if she hears me trying to cry out and make verbal noises, she will come to me and shake me awake. She then sleeps with me and holds me and reassures me. It is really scary and strange, but I am thankful I have my daughter who understands. My first “defense” is to force my voice to cry out. Even when no one is around to hear me, this technique usually helps me break free from it.

  21. I’ve experienced SP for a few years now. In one occasion I got a feeling that this “being or spirit” was trying to tell me something so in my mind I asked what it wanted and it placed an image in my head but it’s always something that I cant understand what it means (happened abot 3 times). I haven’t had an episode in a while, the last time I had one I asked the spirit to leave me alone and that was about 2 yrs ago.

  22. Hello, my name is Himanshu and I am from Ahmedabad, India. Thank you for this wonderful information as I am 34 years old and never heard about it.

As mentioned in various articles here, from past 3 months I experienced same thing about 3-4 times. Like when I entered into my deep slumber, suddenly I realised that there is someone in my room who is holding my legs, or my hands tightly and push me to take alongwith him. Or in resent episode someone just came in my room and sit over my face.

Everytime when I experienced such thing I tried to push that unknown / unwanted demon or a bad spirit to get off from me and I do prayers. Then after few minutes I got up with goosebumps and felt very very scared.

However as now I am aware that I am not the only special person who experienced these incidents, I am feeling relaxed and now I will wait for the next episode to happen so that I can laugh about it and embarrass that demon….. ha ha ha……

  23. I just wanted to get this out the way and say what is on my mind.

Not too long ago, I woke up from the worst sleep paralysis that I think I’ve ever experienced yet in my life. I’ve had experiences with sleep paralysis when I was younger before, having some here and there. But this time it was something I’ve never felt before.

When I went to go to sleep last night, I fell into a state of sleep paralysis where I was still on my bed and could not move, pitch black. I knew what was happening and I felt like I was there, but I knew that I wasn’t though. I tried to move around and such, but nothing seemed to help. At the time, it led me to a semi-lucid dream where my sister came into my room and took me out of that sleep paralysis. We were doing something, but I don’t remember what it was exactly. Then, I went back into the sleep paralysis yet again, right when I closed my eyes within the dream.

I had a digital clock by my feet, where it was on top of a wooden stand attached to my bed. Usually I need glasses to see what is on the digital clock to see what time it is, or at least squint my eyes. It leaves a red digital imprint on my roof, and on the digital clock itself, the screen projects a blue-green light. But in this second sleep paralysis episode, I saw red digital imprints on the screen itself, not the roof.

So, as I squinted my eyes, I saw a text form on the digital clock, possessively saying “earth”. Then, I blinked, and it changed again, and again. It kept doing this, repeating “earth is dead” as i kept blinking on and on. I got a little panicked at that, so I tried to move around and break to free will, but nothing would happen. So, I decided to “go with the flow” instead, and tried to enter a lucid dream if possible. As my head started to get an all-to-familiar feeling of fuzziness or something and increased in intensity, I eventually gotten into some sort of dream, a weird one.

I was in a place that appeared to be hell in some way. But not that type of hell that is described as “fire” or “abyss”, but it was in a classroom-like setting.

So in all of this craziness, I hear a figure saying things, along the line of, “you will serve me” and so forth, but there were other figures there. Those other figures seemed to be people like me, but we were all following this main figure. If I had to say, it was almost like a “hell school” if you can say. In the midst of this, I was doing front and back flips as mind mind kind of trailed on, hoping to just get at least some rest.

As everything seemed to be okay, I was abruptly thrown back in sleep paralysis yet again. This time, nothing was heard, no sounds, nothing. Just me, in my bed, and then for no reason my head felt like it was pounding harder than having multiple migraines all at once. Then, as I was fighting to wake up, I eventually broke apart from the dream, finally waking up to find myself drenched in sweat and finding myself in a similar scene in my bed that looked like the one in the sleep paralysis, and eventually led me up to here, writing this comment to share my experience.

Some things that I wanted to point out is that I’m only 15 years old, I never dealt with anything drug-related, never smoked at all (although some times where I had brief experiences of 2nd hand smoking, but used my shirt to quell the effect of this), I also didn’t get a ton of sleep last night, nor did I get enough for this night, which comes down to my school work and other factors that effect my sleep. Usually when I do get into times of lack of sleep I tend to get experiences like these or anxiety sometimes. I haven’t had any experiences of sleep paralysis for a while, so it came to a surprise to me when this sleep paralysis came up. This was unlike something I felt ever before, and even know it wasn’t as serious as it may be for others, it gave me a glimpse into how others who also have these experiences may feel like. And yet again showing how important sleep is, too.

  24. Hi my aka name is art travels last night I had my first most worst feeling and most highest present of all when I was sleeping then all of a sudden 37 years later 2 22 1980 til April 4th around 2 am maybe 3am I was a victim of this true story one of the most ugliest feelings ever to experience waking up pretty much held down having the full pressure of someone choking me having no energy to even have a chance to battle who ever it was I felt a cold presence like it was something spiritul but evil but that was really present in my room while I was sleeping next to my girlfriend that’s pregnant I woke her up to the experience that had got to me waking me up all I remember is me trying to move those hands and I mean I was pushing my full force by they’re wrist who ever that was I couldn’t believe that that really happened to me I am a spiritual believer and believe n good n evil but the truth is never had ever felt this til this day came when that was happening in can hear my girlfriend shouting out baby baby. What’s wrong are u okay r you okay I couldn’t say a word I was suffocating n felt like that was gonna be my last time breathing and feeling that no one was gonna be able to save me because the energy was so big and scary felt like a night mare on elm st Freddy Crugor the movie…damn I never want to go to sleep because that was not a joke everyone 4 real felt the last day of my life with out saying good by.

  25. This started happening to me about 6 months ago and since then it has happened in spurts. Usually 3 or 4 nights out of the months I’ll get sleep paralysis and most of the time those nights are consecutive. The weird thing is it never happened to me until a friend was talking to me about his experience with it. He believes heavily in the demon side of the story and would tell me of terrifying nights when he was visited by demons. I’m much more skeptical than him, but about a month after he told me this I had my first experience. The usual symptoms, I woke up completely paralyzed, tried to call for help and found I couldn’t. This lead to being horribly frightened and the experience seemed to last for the longest 15 minutes of my life. At first I thought I was having a heart attack, but I was only 26. Then it continued the next night and night after. The first time is definitely the scariest. Once I was more informed and read about other’s experiences, I lean more towards the scientific side of things. Choosing to believe that I’m just still in REM sleep is much more pleasent than I demon in my room. Then, just last night I had another episode, my first in about a month, and something whispered in my ear. That is the first I have had them at end of things happen and it sent me right back into being terrified. When this happens to me I always try to wake up my girlfriend and yell for help but never can. And last night while trying to yell for help, this something (probably my own subconscious) whispered “don’t bother she can’t hear you”. Since this was the first time this month I’m expecting another episode tonight or sometime soon. It always happens consecutive nights to me every month or so. I’ve come to accept it more but still hate it every time and am scared to go back to sleep afterward, because I’ve also had it happen to me more than once in the same night. Anyone have an explaination for the whispers? It’s good to know there’s other people going through the same restless nights. It also never happens to me when I’m waking in the morning. Always right as I’m falling asleep before bed, or occasionally very late at night if I wake from a dream.

  26. I’ve had sleep paralysis experiences a few times a year since my early 20s (I’m now 34), but the very worst one I’ve ever had happened in the early morning hours of March 5th 2015. My husband had been very sick with what we thought was a bad case of the stomach flu, and I had fallen asleep on our “dog bed” which is just a huge mattress our dogs sleep on next to our bed on the floor. That’s another important part to this story: our two dogs had been extremely anxious and behaving strangely for about five days before this happened, so I had fallen asleep petting and laying next to them. Anyways, at about 3:00am I woke up and immediately knew I was paralyzed. This had happened before and I had always been able to slowly wake myself up by saying a certain prayer in my head and never had any hallucinations before this one. I very clearly saw a dark figure crawling over my sleeping husband in bed, and it was coming toward me on the floor. It had large hollow-looking black eyes and a huge grin on its face. I immediately panicked and tried to scream for my husband to wake up but of course I couldn’t talk or move. What jolted me out of it was my dog Daisy barking and growling, staring right at the bed where the demon had just been crawling. Later that day, my husband’s health took a horrible turn and he ended up in ICU for a week with severe internal bleeding from undiagnosed colitis. He came very close to death. To this day I’m not sure if that thing was a warning of some kind or something more sinister. I’m a very logical person and don’t believe in most supernatural or paranormal things, but I KNOW what I saw. The only explanation I can come up with is that my dog sensed my fear (smelled my adrenaline?) and reacted, and the “demon” was just a hallucination from a dream. I had also not been getting much sleep for about 4 days while I was taking care of my husband, which could explain the sleep paralysis. I’ve had other sleep paralysis events a few times since then, but I haven’t seen a demon or intruder or anything else before or after 3/5/15. My husband made a full recovery, and our dogs anxiety and strange behavior stopped as soon as he took a turn for the better in the hospital.

    • My theory is that you might have feared your husband was getting sicker, and your dog’s anxiety might have been a reflection of your own anxieties as our pets are often far more perceptive of their environment than we think. Or you could have easily hallunicated your dog growling at the thing you saw, it’s very difficult to make sense of the things that occur during this state of mind.

  27. OK…..my story to this.
My case happened (thank God) already 23 years ago. After my break up with my girlfriend I had to move back to my parents place. Already believed in God and Jesus but didn’t change my lifestyle. At this point I was angree with the the whole world. In the evening I watched “Shindlers List” and I again being angry I challenged evil like “is this all you got”…..I went to bed and in the middle of the night I woke up because of a door which slammed, I didn’t think to much about it because well my parents slept 2 rooms next to me and it isn’t unusual for someone to go to the bathroom. So, I was just about to continue my sleep till I felled something wasn’t right, and bam!….I was completely frozen, I couldn’t move and something from the right side out of the corner was moving towards me, it wasn’t a color black, it was a darkness behind our understanding of black, it was cold and full of hate towards me. I was so scared that I tried to scream but not a sound was leaving me and that left me in total panic. Then inside my head I heard a voice which said “close your eyes cause this isn’t meant for you to see” so I closed my eyes and started praying the Lord prayer, it was the only thing I could do. When I came to “deliver us from evil” I fell asleep and in my dreams there was I demonic fight over me. I woke up in total peace and knew that this would never happen again, that didn’t mean I wasn’t unshaken. I told my parents in the morning what happened and the first reaction was that it was probably stress, after telling them in the evening again with tears in my eyes they believed me. It is hard to tell people something like that and knowing it was real, no matter what science try to explain what it is. After years I decided to look on the internet and was astonished about the similar stories and the number of people who share the same feelings. I don’t care if people think I am a nutcase, I know what happened and I know that I was awake, it was real and I know that God saved me. After this experience I started taking my faith serious and the more I learn the more I know that what the bible writes is true. ““For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

  28. I don’t care what science says about it, everyone who has ever experienced this knows that this is not some kind of medical situation, this is something else. Why are all the stories more or less the same, if fear is something personal why do the shadowpeople appear and not for example a big spider for someone with arachnophobia…..I have experienced it once and it was the most terrifying experience in my life and i know that it is demonic. My prayer to Jesus saved me from it.

  29. I actually had an experience today…I woke up this morning with a headache So when it was time for my 2 year old to lay down for a nap, I decided to lay down and try to ease my headache I was laying down about an hour and my husband called and woke me up I talked to him about 5 mins and got off the phone and rolled over to go back to sleep I was laying on my stomach and I was falling asleep and then I couldn’t move and it felt like the blankets were slowly moving down my back and legs and my eyes were open and I could see the blanket moving! I tried making a noise and couldn’t when I finally woke up the blankets were where they were suppose to be and my son was crying in his crib…needless to say I think my sons crying brought me out of it! Either way I tried telling my husband about it and he had no clue what I was talking about, when I explained what had happened and how it felt he “jokingly” told me I was haunted and needed to sleep in separate beds! lol I have only had 1 other experience when I was married to my ex husband and was asleep dreaming someone was forcing a smile on my face with their hands and when I woke up my cheeks hurt :/ that Time was by far the scariest!

  30. Ace Rob
I’ve been having what I thought were “bad dreams” that started a few years ago. I was afraid to tell anyone because they would think I was mentally unbalanced. They are terrible. I’d wake up to someone trying to pull me out of bed by both my legs. My body was in this paralysis state, I was unable to move my arm, or yell out for help or kick. At some point I would gain control, shaking, terrified, and wanted to look for someone in my bedroom, by scared out of my mind. I felt that it might be a demon, that was trying to drag me to hell. I go to church every Sunday, and prayed every night that they wouldn’t return for me. I was afraid to tell my Pastor. I’d finally calm myself down, and realize that I was having some kind of terrible dream,
and convince myself to go back to sleep. A few nights ago I watching a program on TV, and they were talking about sleep paralysis. I so happy to find out I wasn’t the only person who suffered from this problem. I came to this sight to find out more.
I found that others are having the same issue I am. I know feel like I have some “tools” to help myself. Now I know I’m not crazy, and my problem is a real and I can get some help without fear. I feel better now, I hope the other on here can find some help as I know how frightened they feel.

  31. URAG GARABAD
I am 28 old. I am muslim from born but İsa (you say Jesus) is also my prophet. I am in trouble like 6 years, since mid-university time. That days I have brain hurricane.Like something in my brain and turning like washing-machine and words come together and there were so much connections each other and some unlocigal doubts and in my chest fear ( fear about future, job, love, home, family etc) and anxiety and like swelling breath in my chest with stress but not real swell, like something doing it.But that time there is no unreal dreams and night-squeezed-body-event and locigal voice but not from human…In university time I was in İstanbul . I was in medicine.I didnt come through all the things and I go to a psychiatry professor. He give me firstly 2 mg risperidon morning and evening. After 3 week later I complained about pill because I started to be obese and my sleep time was so long.He changed the pill and started to aririprazol 5 mg morning and evening.I get healt but always my head is heavy or like pressed.
I have known the things come to me what the reason but I didnt find the word. these things not made by my body or my soul or my brain. So that I started to search.I went to Hagi Sofia Museum and investigate the wall writings, it is in latin language. There were letters around İsa mozaic and there is a Jin mozaic too. How I know? I learned after the visit.I saw Jins with my eyes.I will explain all the things.I also visited mosques which leaved from Ottoman time. There was letters in arabic in walls. In Sahzade Mosque there was like 1,5*1,5 meters “vav” letter. And I opened Qur’an.When I went in so much investigate my mind was flushing. So that I stoped the investigate.Like six years later still I use aririprazol and like since two years there were night-demon’s imaginations and images in my sleep. They are not real dreams.Real dreams always with us.But we cant remember most of time. All of you know these.I start to investigate Jins and satans again from Qur’an and with my lived I synthesized. I only didnt solve the demon’s voice game.
    First:
1.İf you feel things not you are in feel like swelling in chest fears and anxiety-with voice or imaginations or images and if they are together demons can go in your body. (All in belief people believe also satan’s exist.İn Qur’an satan word is in so much pappers. And also there were speacial Jin passage,it is only 2 papper longer. And also Jin word is in some pappers.)
İf you dont want to look Qur’an and Qur’an not says everythings about them.Maybe its message.
Hear me about something about them.
( I will pass the solition wait a little, solution is easy if you want to do really and not in İslamic way.I am not missioner or hoja.I am doctor who want to help you.)
In truth satan not come from angels.Satan(demon) is a kind of Jin but not inbelief and aganist the creation of universe and all of time of universe.Angels is angels.
How they look? There is no differences between Jins and Satans. There is no horn and no spear. They are created and all created things shape in cration. No more knowladge about these subject.
(if you decided reading Qur’an to learn,I ingestigated Qur’an’s english version I must be in honesty its like Bible İt had chaned by human. So that be carefulll.
I really like from my heart İsa (you say Jesus) and I want to if I can help people who give their hearts to İsa.I would to be a doctor Who he liked…
Jins and satans have same morphology and abilities.
They can fly like a ghost and they can go in walls and if they can accomplish(!) they can go in alives things, animals and also human. And they can fastly move, like storm speed but a lil time only. And they can read human minds but not totally.
İf someones in you can hear some voices like human voice.BUT NOT HUMAN VOICE.
Their voice more clear and shrill sometimes like electronic voice.

Okay I must focus the solition. But firstly why still use aririprazol? İt make me relax.
There is something I used name “sataic point”.İn İslam in latin alphabet writing “vesvese”.Vesvese the idea or some little thing like moment or the thing which rememberd you something and that thing disturb you or get in you false or sin.Aririprazol now I use for vesvese.

Firstly I come in again solutions.
At last we said that it is in your body. How? With joint. How Why come from Joint?
İn Qur’an explain these, come from heart. Our body enerjy centrals brain and heart.
But joint not come from brain because all of use under attack satanic point “vesvese”. Joint or somechristian web sites I saw they use door.A hodja also said my the door world. Not door. Not all the things you had done in world together door open. All things about heart joint and heart lock.İf someones in you not beliave me try these this night if you dont want to see imaginations but I didnt guarantee about satanic images ( imagations like movie image like picture: they in images and imaginations try to look like human. But if you be caresfull you will see big eyes and circular body lines and they are horrible and comics sometimes like sexy woman sometimes beasts sometimes belief leader and you are the important person etc.-I lived all of them and I can see them if I want ,its a abilitiy and I can hear their voice but I didnt accomplish the closing voice yet)
I am not crayz.Listen and try OK? Then I want feed-back from you.
Some of you want to see dreams and follow the dreams to remember in mornings.
    Me to.
Dont follow dreams in sleep. When you are in bed to prepearing yourself to do it dont do.İf you follow and satan in your body, satan can manipulate your brain and you can see the imaginations.İf you dont follow dreams and if you dont intent from heart and from brain…No imagination and in morning you will have be energetic.Because you will have total real dreams and real sleep.
OK.These is for who is not give importance me.
I am interested in parapsychology. And I get succeds one time skew the spoon. :)) this is for fun.

How can close the heart joint? How can for more energy unlock heart?
    İts easy.
İts way more easy use your right hand and put it your heart strongly and press. And clean all satanic and satan and jin love satan interests and in humanistic look to satans and jins, stop loving all creation from creations, you must havent any positive feel in your heart satans and Jins must be far from our heart. The easiest way reseting your heart. You can do believe its work.İts about bioenergy. And if you do it work immeadiatelly. And the satanic friend games satanic funs satainc jokes clean in your heart and closed with regret and open your heart people who deserve.Who deserve, for upgrade your heart power.Okey.Only these. And dont do these if there is no demon problem again. İn Qur’an right things about creations which locked heart and sick heart.
my hypothesis, satans is sick heart jins. And Qur”an rights about “human satans”.Sick heart persons. NOOOOO MERCY.DONT FORGET JOİNT FROM HEART.Dont mayke joint bed people.İf you do closed your heart to them.
Dont forget hand.Dont forget your heart.

note: imagination and image. They can send image with satanic point “vesvese”.But no more imaginations.

after stopping heart joint. There was a second problem.İf they really have problem with you.Magic.Satanic magic. In Qur’an sihir. They put something on your body.maybe on your heart.if you feel something in your body use hands and clean there fastly. And they again can put something again.Clean again.Be fast.
Sihir solution reading passages.Always not can use your hands.
How can magic do ? I know.
And really empty things.Dont forget joint? Be far from vesvese “satanic point”.

    brothers and sisters.Take care.
Note:Following dreams-want to see more dream, trying to continue dream and also imaging something to has target.

  32. In a completely different world is how to describe these nightmares. You cant move, nor speak. your literally stuck in the position you first fell asleep in, just UP watching all the demons and scary figures you choose to think of. I know when im having one of these nightmares and i choose to experience it anyway because honestly its kinda cool, its like a portal to a whole different world. So i like to remind myself there mind games and im sleeping anyways. That i am dreaming. This is not real, even though it could feel as if. I just woke up from 3 or 4 scary pitch black figures CRAWLING on me back and forth ; the figures are darker than night so they stand out more) and actually being able to FEEL them on me, so realistic its unbelievable i feel as if its a different dimension. I dont enjoy, but i do because its a 110% different experience that ive ever felt before. You feel warm, and warmer and warmer and could hear yourself breathing. Then i remember hearing ( whatever it was ) telling me something. I was trying to listen , but a huge scream just roars into my ear unexpectedly and i wake up with my left ear ringing and i turn on my lamp immediately! I tell myself im not going back to sleep and i never do . because its all you think about afterwards, i just want to learn more about it and why it has to be so terrifying and cruel? Not every being goes through it, and its kinda unexplainable because you dont know the feeling until you experience it yourself . i want to know more, because its mind blowing and maybe the dead is living?

  33. i experience this almost every week, and its always a shadow of a man.. the scariest was when i felt that he’s lying behind me and shaking my shoulders rapidly so that i would turn and face him, it really felt so real..im trying to control my body or scream but i cant do anything..im aware that i was sleeping but i cannot wake up nor move..

the most recent dream was that he’s sitting on my stomach and trying to choke me.. before there were also dreams where in he was doing ‘something’ in my body or that he was kissing me.. it was really scary and felt real :(

  34. In my dreams I wake up and have a cold feeling. I can walk around but I just hide under the covers and pray until I wake up.

  35. I have struggled with this phenomenon ALL of my life. Before I became a teenager, between ages 5-12, it was the scariest experience. I woke up paralyzed, hearing and seeing things in my room that were attempting to provoke me and intimidate me. (Some even returned regularly.)

After I became a teenager, I simply experienced the nightmares and the paralysis without the overwhelming feeling of a presence standing over me. I learned that the paralysis mostly came whenever I was sleeping on my back. I could barely breathe, felt like I was dying, but the fear was gone, and felt as if I was slipping out of my body as I fought it. The only faithful solution was to wiggle my legs. The experience would last about 20-30 seconds each time. Sometimes it happened to me in my dreams, and I fought it just as hard, realizing in my dream that I would wake up in a paralyzed condition. It was always associated with fighting dreams, either with invisible forces and visible things.

In my adulthood, the experience lessened in frequency, but with a predictable pattern: if I napped for too long or on my back, or if I woke up and didn’t get up right away, I could feel it coming upon me. Only once in a while do I hear strange movements or sounds around me that I can’t open my eyes and see. It was like listening in on the sounds from another dimension. Sometimes I fought so hard that it FELT that I was actually moving, albeit in slow motion, only to realize upon breaking the paralysis that I had not moved at all.

It once happened to me at my desk at work while napping, and a few times while riding in a car. It has happened a few times on my couch with a person present. It no longer trouble me, but still occurs every week or so while napping. It no longer has a demonic feel to it, but it still feels like dying. I wish I understood it.

  36. I first experienced Sleep Paralysis at 29 during an extremely stressful period in my life. It was full blown; visible presence on my chest (it appeared to be ME !!), auditory hallucination (which I interpreted as rats in the wall just behind my head), total Paralysis – the most frightening experience of my life, I thought I was going insane. Only found out years later by watching a documentary that it happened to other people too. I had another one last night (also a few in between), not as severe but still pretty scary. I’ve been highly stressed and sleep deprived on each occasion; also, I’ve developed epilepsy recently (a correlation perhaps ?). It’s never done me any harm, other than the ‘fear factor’ – staying calm and turning the light on (once you”re able) definitely helps. I got up and read for the rest of the night, too afraid to go back to sleep this time :-(.

  37. I experience sleep paralysis usually when I nap on the couch. It has happened a few times in bed also. Mine is upon waking. With me, I’m trying to wake up, I know I’m awake but I cannot move or talk. I panic and I want to move so bad and I can get noise out, (yelling without moving my lips). My husband has heard me and has woken me up. I cannot open my eyes. It is scary and while it’s happening I cannot get it in my head it will pass, I really think at the time I will never be able to move. I hate it but I don’t know what to do? Freaky is a good word!

  38. I get it several times a year. I use buprenorphine 62.5 mg patches for pain and up to 7200mg Gabapentin caplets…a massive dose
I awake knowing I’m paralysed …but I can talk and have eye movement. It’s like a massive build up of lactic acid in every joint. My wife has to assist with moving fingers usually then I can sort each joint in turn. It’s horrific the amount of pain each joint gives as we flex them into movement..It leaves me drained and flu like aches and pains and heightens my Neuropathic pain condition in my lower limbs….
    It truly is horrific

  39. I thank you for your knowledge. I think just knowing what is going on will help me greatly. Now when it happen I will just let it happen and let my body do it’s thing. Thank You!

  40. Hi…thank you for your wonderful article. I like how you talk about what is happening to us scientifically. You did an excellent job of not making sufferers feel crazy. I have had terrible sleep issues since childhood. Sleep walking, bouts of insomnia, sleep eating, sleep paralysis, and exploding head. I feel they are all related. My sleep issues are best controlled with simple rules for myself. No tv or other media in the bed. Proper diet. No eating past 8pm. A dark room. A cool room. No drugs (none- not prescription recreational or over the counter) Wake naturally in the morning without alarms. I found setting alarms causes me to wake early threw the night to check the time because I don’t like to be startled by the alarm. No naps. Naps set off my insomnia and naps are when I have exploding head and sleep paralysis.
